Hi,
As I said before that my best friend is planning to come on a family visit visa early next year for her annual leave and she will stay at her sisters.
I'm just wondering if it's important for her sister to submit her bank statement?
She will be staying for 2 weeks so i'm also thinking that if her sister submits a bank statement, how much would her sister need to support her?
I know letter of invitation is important.
Thanks for all the help.

''copies of sponsor's bank or building society statements and payslips for the last six months; or
a copy of sponsors savings account book.''
It all depends on what your best friend wants to do here, but the major rule for visitors is to be able to provide herself (applicant) financially during her stay.

Is this a serious thread ????
She needs some PROOF of income.
For example, if she says she earns £1,000 per week being self employed, but her bank/building society statement only tends to show deposits of £200-£300 per month, then something ain't right. Do you follow ??????
Her bank statements (especially the deposit history) MUST show some relevance to the money she says she is earning.
Also, the sister is declaring this money to the taxman & paying income tax on these earnings ? (yes, I know what you readers are thinking !)
If so, then she can submit copies of her tax return & statement from the Inland Revenue.

Nick,
Self employment, she can submit her last self assessment statement from HMRC and also a profit/loss sheet, which her accountant would have prepared
Also her business bank statements showing payments and proof of business can be submitted.
On the question of how much, I already spent some time to help you on that.
If she will stay with her sister, or stay at a Premiere Inn or stay at a 5star hotel it's all different. Besides just remember it's an arbitary number depending on what she says she will make the visit for and how much money she has or the sponsor has to cover the expenses.
Don't forget the ECO can use financials as a reason to refuse anyway.

What's the reason why financials can be refused?

What's the reason why financials can be refused?
Insufficient funds or cash flow to support the applicants intended visit (and/or sponsors capability to sponsor)
For example, your friend turns up at Heathrow and is picked out for questioning. She says she is here for a 2 month tourist visit but has only £20 in cash and no bank account anywhere. How would you proceed?

Thanks for all the help Terpe and all.
I'm getting the idea now :)
Yes it's like on UK Border Control they get picked for questioning.
