Modern Family.
This must be one of the funniest, most uplifting series on TV.
It is based around three sets of families that comprise the whole family and is set in the U.S..
I believe the second series is on sky at the moment and the first series is out at a bargain price on DVD.
Belly-achingly wonderful laughs and, as it says, "Modern".

Whatever happened to 'natural selection' ? :NoNo:
Sodom and Gomorrah comes to mind.
I can only refer you to the 'good book' :
"The two angels arrived in Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of the city." (Genesis 19:1)
"He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, and they ate. Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom - young and old - surrounded the house. They called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them." (Genesis 19:3-5)
"The two men said to Lot, "Do you have anyone else here - sons-in-law, sons or daughters, or anyone else in the city who belongs to you? Get them out of here, because we are going to destroy this place. The outcry to The Lord against its people is so great that He has sent us to destroy it." (Genesis 19:12-13)
"By the time Lot reached Zoar, the sun had risen over the land. Then The Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah - from The Lord out of the heavens. Thus He overthrew those cities and the entire plain, including all those living in those cities - and also the vegetation in the land. But Lot's wife looked back and she became a pillar of salt." (Genesis 19:23-26)
"The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves." (Isaiah 3:9)
"In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire." (Jude 7)

But then, whilst one might reasonably argue that lesbian behaviour is equally unnatural from a moral perspective, it IS - for some strange reason - often considered more acceptable in the eyes of the average red-blooded male who's likely to still be drawn by the allure of an otherwise attractive member of the opposite sex. :cwm24: What a waste of a beautiful woman, though! :doh

There may be up to 10% of the world's population are homosexual. No one knows for certain - President Ahmedinejad claims there are none in Iran - but it's probably a similar proportion in most countries.
I neither have time nor inclination to watch "Modern Family", "Brokeback Mountain", lesbian porn, or read the bible.
However most enlightened people, including doctors, realise
it's not an illness. No one knows for sure what determines sexual orientation. There are certainly health consequences - although AIDS for example is commoner in heterosexuals in the UK - and verbal or physical violence. Doctors treat the consequences but would not attempt to change sexual orientation without informed consent.
The majority of homosexuals are not high profile like Elton John and David Furnish. I have friends here and in the Philippines who are homosexual - I don't consider myself trendy by having such friends. They don't attempt to change my heterosexual orientation.
Many people change their views and become more tolerant if they actually know homosexuals, and it's not uncommon for them to change their views when they discover a member of their own family is gay - worse could happen.

Sure, it may not be a disease, but weren't we built to reproduce? So in theory we should only be attracted to the opposite sex. If it comes down to just being an attraction thing, what we prefer, does that also mean that pedophilia and bestiality are ok too then :Erm:

I have gay friends too (I'm not THAT divorced from the real world ).
What I find annoying is the totally out of proportion publicity and the almost 'promoting' of gay rights, issues etc...constant pressure for us to accept them and their lifestyle.
We all have a right to OUR opinions, and any amount of PC nonsense cannot alter the fact that the other 90% of the population are 'wired' as nature intended, and it is also perfectly natural for people to want to reject what they (correctly) perceive to be behaviour that doesn't conform to convention.
I'm not asking for gays and lesbians etc to be hounded or beaten to death, or discriminated in any way.
I just wish they would stop whining, and understand that a lot of people DO find their sexual activities repugnant.

Although I wonder about the dodgy wiring thing though.
If as Doc says,we cant fix their wiring, what else is there to do?
Many may have the attitude of walatayo but if one of our own kids came out and had the guts to tell us their wiring was bent what would we do then?
I say I love my 3 kids unconditionally..
How much of a hypocrite would I be if I dumped anyone of them instantly just because they told me they were unrepairablely gay or with bent emotional or sexual wiring?
I rather think that I would support them and physically fight anyone that wants to hurt them..

And I remember thinking: "well ... as long as he's HEALTHY ... :anerikke: ... it doesn't matter a damn!" So ... from that perspective ... As for turning our backs on our flesh and blood because they were gay, I dont think so. Even if they were the worse of the worse, we'd still love them.
Im not a gay hater! Its about irresponsible tv producers making it look glamorous and normal. Its not.

I agree Arthur. It turns my guts, truth be known.
You see those mincers John and Fernish in the papers with there baby Son. Its really all wrong.
L ookat George Michael when he got caught soliciting in some public lavatories. He became a hero of the people after that. Goodness knows what his family thought of it. hes done much worse since.
Modern family ....... Do me a favour.

Well said Doc Alan :xxgrinning--00xx3:
Modern Family is a great show and yes, shock horror, there are gays in the world :laugher:

Bad analogy IMO..
Id rather my daugter tell me she was a lap dancer than a lezzy any day of the week..
No, you misunderstood my statement.
I was giving an example of DEGREES of difference in sexual behaviour...not in sexuality. :)

Regarding homosexuality and lesbianism  ... far from condemning those who're "that way inclined" as necessarily being bad people, WE :olddude:s belong to a generation when such "capers" were carried on privately -*behind [*scuse pun] closed doors, so to speak - instead of being flaunted at every turn :Hellooo: ... as if it were some "trendy new cult" and/or perfectly normal behaviour - which it most definitely is NOT! :nono-1-1: ...
... that's the basis of our objection(s). :ReadIt:

Oh, and I'm sick of being urged to 'move with the times' etc.
Movement (and standards) can go in both directions.
For instance, does anyone honestly think that the high street on a weekend evening is a better place to be than it was ?

The act of homosexuality may be legal, it doesn't make it morally right.
You may enjoy having a length shoved up you back passage. I certainly wouldn't.
I dont know of any women liking it either. Buggery be it man on man or man on women is in my eyes abnormal.
Not sure what oral sex has to do with it.
Perhaps Ive lead a sheltered life :)

Truth be told ... homosexuality, lesbianism and paedophilia are ALL forms of sexual deviancy - albeit the first two have [sadly] been allowed to become legalised - whereas, the third NEVER WILL be, :nono-1-1: thank God!

Homosexuality and lesbianism are not sexual deviances for the people that swing that way :doh
As Doc Alan points out, there may be up to 10% of the world's population are homosexual.
Better relax Arthur Little, they may be next to you at any minute :icon_lol:
The TV show is Modern Family - it is a relection on society in the USA.
The UK is not too dissimilar.

By the same token :poke: - lest you forget - it could equally be argued that neither the Bible - nor its teachings are "out of date" for the 99% of the Philippines' population who believe implicitly in the Christian faith ... a faith you consistently attempt to debase with your vehement religious intolerance!

Most of the UK is intollerant to the christian church, Arthur.
This is an unstoppable reaction to intollerance that the church has shown to hundreds of thousands of people over many hundreds of years.
It is not my fault that this is the situation in the UK, but I think it worth pointing out that most Filipinas who will come to live here in the UK, where you live also will see this quite clearly for themselves on the TV and in newspapers as well as most people they will meet on a day-to-day basis.
Your religion is a dying one and the many scandals that the church has perpetrated over many years also does not help it's cause.
As you are well aware Arthur, I do not forget.
The people who have deserted the church don't forget also. :doh

Malaysia has a "boot camp" for youths with effeminate tendencies
Malaysian authorities have sent 66 Muslim schoolboys identified by teachers as effeminate to a four-day camp where they will receive counseling on masculine behavior to discourage them from being gay, an official said on Tuesday.

Apo you seem to miss points, as and when it suits.
Arthur was making the comparison between the 10% of gays in this world, but nobody really knows :NoNo: and the 99% of the Philippine population who follow the Christian faith which you put down at every opportunity.
Its the same with the Muslim extremists. Your quite happy to fight in there corner as well.
Im not getting on at you Apo, im just pointing out what others will be thinking as well.

:Erm: No it isn't. Only about 30% admit to practicing their faith, but the other 70% are not intollerant as you are of religion. They just couldn't be bothered and get on with their own lives.

When I first met my girlfriend in the philippines we had a fantastic time and I knew i had found the love of my life.
To Maricels credit (and I have only since found this out) she told me that she goes to church regually and certainly on a sunday.
While i was there to make me feel comfertable I'm sure she forgo'd her church to be with me:)
Now realising how much her faith means I wish she had took me to church with her.
iIm not deeply relgious but I would have done it for her, sometimes it's not just a case of i don't do relgion so stuff it-if the person you are with has a relgion then support them.
Next time we are together i will ask her if she would like to go to church with me and i know the look in her eyes will make me feel great.:xxgrinning--00xx3:
