Got it on now....sort of like listening to old peoples' music in a shopping mall. :)
However, I am very grateful for Tesco being deserted at 8pm.
Always try to time my arrival to coincide with the start of a crappy tv programme for the masses. :D
PS . Georgia's song had a bit of life in it just now though.....missed the UK song.

I used to watch it back in the early days ... when there seemed to be half-decent songs competing. But all those psychodelic images and flashing lights make me feel squeamish :vomit-smiley-011: and headachy ...

Terry Wogan quit three years ago, over so-called bloc or political voting, declaring " An iron curtain has descended across Eurovision" . But I hadn't realised until recently that perhaps the biggest scandal involved Cliff Richard's "Congratulations" in 1968. It finished second behind Spain's entry by one point, apparently because bribes - during General Franco's fascist regime - MAY have rigged the vote !
Just for the record, the UK's five winning entries were:-
Puppet on a String .... Sandie Shaw .... 1967
Boom-Bang-a-Bang .... Lulu ... 1969
Save Your Kisses for Me .... Brotherhood of Man .... 1976
Making Your Mind Up .... Bucks Fizz .... 1981
Love Shine a Light .... Katrina and the Waves .... 1997 :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Remember them all, cant recall if Sandie Shaw wore shoes on the night or not, but I always enjoy the Eurovision.
The night in Ireland with Riverdance was unforgettable, cant remember the year though:icon_lol:

Hmmm, do we really want to let our ladies think that this is the best tallent Europe has to offer? I realise that the Filippines is full of American styled wannabee rappers but, please we do have a bit more to offer than this drivel each year. That said, we do seem to thrive on Mr. Cowells "throw away superstar" each year. At least Abba got a long musical career out of Eurovision. Poor Leona Lewis, brilliant voice but confined to Mr. Cowells waste paper bin now.... Ah Well

Well put your ladies right then ,our best talent wont go near it now.
Just treat it as an entertainment show similar to Britains Got Talent, one year a trannie from Israel won it, throws up all sorts on the show.
Anyway, as most on here say they dont watch it, how can they pass judgement:Erm:

I take your point, and some of the acts are quite good, it's the political voting that I take issue with, and because of it a decent song might loose out.
