Jack Wilshere and Andy Carroll have been left out of England's Under-21 squad for the European Championship finals in Denmark this summer.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was strongly against Gunners midfielder Wilshere, 19, being included in the squad.

I just heard a fella phone Talk Sport saying that attitudes towards playing for England have changed over the last 20 years - "you'd have Gazza crying his eyes out and Terry Butcher running around with half his head missing"

How true - One of the few to show any real pride and passion is of course reinstated England Captain John Terry :D

A lot of the players were off form - JT for example pissed off at being unjustly sacked as Captain, Fat Boy bricking himself that the news of his dirty extra marital forays was going to come out etc etc :icon_lol:

:laugher:

That was back in Jan / Feb - JT and Shrek didn't skulk behind super injunctions (JT's wasn't granted) like 2009 Sports Personality of the Year and Mr Happily Married aka Goody Two Shoes just named by the BBC

The only reason JT wants to play for England is so that he can work his way through the rest of his team mates WAGS:icon_lol::xxgrinning--00xx3:

Why is he a bottler? He's in the England squad :doh ..... It'd be stupid to play in two international teams

Obviously he's changed his mind since March........

But Wilshere, who hailed Capello as "one of the best" bosses with whom he has worked, believes playing with the under-21s will improve his game.

"It can only be good for my career," the Gunners midfielder said.

"If you look at the Germans, when they won the under-21 tournament they went to the World Cup and had such a good tournament.

"It's important to start winning international tournaments early and hopefully you can take it to the world stage."
