Hi All
My father recently married a filipino lady and is living in the Phiilipines with her. Originally his plan was to emigrate to the Phillipines and have no more connection with the UK. Now the plan seems to have changed and he is planning a trip back here with his new wife with the intention of researching how a business could work exporting products from the Phillipines to the UK.
He has asked me for a 'formal invite' to a family reunion next month which he is hoping will clinch the tourist visa for his new wife. Having sent the invite but subsequently googled the implications (my husband wasn't happy about sending the invite) it appears that we may be considered as her sponsor over here. Is this the case? How liable are we for potential medical expenses should she have need of treatment?
Would be very grateful if anyone can shed any light on this matter.
