Have a good trip Arthur - watch out for the rip off merchants

http://www.romebuddy.com/givesadvice/crime3.html

A mate of mine had a right carry on a few years ago and nearly had to deck a restaurant manager after being striped over some Cokes

agree with above about being ripped off, if your lady has a friend who has a friend who has a cousin married to a guy in Rome tap them up for some inside information. So far nearly everywhere I have taken my honey she knows someone, school mate, ex colleague or relative in the city we are going to, really helps having a great insiders time instead of just tourist traps. have a great holiday Arthur and Myrna

How true. Just recently we went to Barcelona. My wife mentioned she has a friend who lives in Barcelona but could not find her contact details.
Unbelievably we met her friend in the most bizarre circumstances.
We needed some directions to somewhere and decided to ask at a kiosk making and selling crepes.
A couple working inside the kiosk from Pinas. Yep, it's true. It was my wife's friend from way back.......................

Now they are in regular contact and FB friends.
But how strange. Two friends from a small town in Mindanao, lost contact and meet up very coincidently in Barcelona.
You just couldn't write that story.:icon_lol:

Funny enough I was looking at Rome for my Mahal she has always wanted to visit the Vatacan so today I suggested we go to Rome for her next b'day.
I went back in 2005 and loved it.

As my darling should be on her FLR is she allowed to travel out of the uk?

Enjoy the trip mate it's such a great place..

Arthur,
I hope you read this- you should not miss the 'Gelato di San Crispino' at Fontana di Trevi- facing the fountain take the road on your right (t's the second road clockwise facing the fountain) and then take the second road on the left. It's a small gelateria shop it may be better to ask the locals as they can tell you exactly where it is. Buona vacanza!:D

:68711_thanx:, folks for your helpful tips and good wishes. We'd a thoroughly enjoyable week "roaming" around the Italian Capital's famous sights ... Vatican City, Colosseum, Fontana di Trevi among others ... and viewed many more from the open upper deck of a Green Line Tour Bus - all in glorious [if a bit too hot] weather throughout. Managed to escape some of the [often] intense heat by visiting numerous museums, took loads of photos (which I intend to upload here in due course) and - needless to say - spent a small fortune in the process!

But - for all that - it's nice to be home again! :)

Arthur do you still have to aply for a visa for Myrna to leave this country

Yes, I'm afraid so, Steve ... even with Myrna already having ILR, she still needed a *Schengen Visa! It seems to be a prerequisite for partners until they become British Citizens. Mind you, *it's issued completely free of charge - just as it had been when we went to Paris in March last year - the only difference being that, unlike the French Embassy, the Italian Consulate in Edinburgh insists on applicants providing confirmation of flights and hotel bookings. Otherwise, the procedure turned out to be straightforward enough, and the visa itself was received within 10 days of applying. :xxgrinning--00xx3:
