Morgan Freemans voice-over makes that movie,wish I had similar iconic dulcet tones instead of sounding like Robson Green :bigcry:

Nah! Apocalypse Now!:xxgrinning--00xx3: For added bonus it was filmed in Baler, Aurora Province in Luzon. { beautiful area }
The helicopters were supplied personally by Marcos from the Filipino Air force and flown by Pinoys cos the Yanks were too crap at flying them!:action-smiley-081: Amazingly you can still see a few scorched palm trees from the iconic napalm scene!

Bit harsh before, sorry! Shawshank Redemption is a brilliant film written by Stephen King, anyone liking that will surely like Green Mile another classic written from Kings pen.

the shawshank redemption is shown on channel 4 all the time...i far prefer the green mile and it as a great ending to the main story and a sad ending to the movie.
no country for old men is well worth watching :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Me too.. Only I didnt have to act drunk...I probably was!
No idea why I but I think the agents name was Ken Metcalf from somewhere in Pasay??
There was a British fella named Godfrey back then.. A local tramp that quite often slept in Lunetta park and drank cheap SMB in Raymonds fast food..(which later became Rosies diner I believe)
He always had all the info regarding movies and extra work..
We even did a few local Filipino low budget films to make ends meet..200 Pesos a day...Uggghhhh!!
Sorry about the thread hyjack Les...:icon_lol:

I can't name names on here...but some familiar ones there.
Raymonds Fast Food was further along the road from Rosie's.
Rose's Diner (the original Ermita one), which also incorporated Blue Hawii Club and Polynesian Bar, later became the infamous LA Cafe. :)

It was really true-to- life (at that time) too, that's what impressed me.
Apparently the researchers spent 3 months or more living in Manila and other locations, mixing with expats, to ensure an accurate portrayal, apart from the actual on-location filming. :)
I had just started the relationship with the ex at that time, and in Manila, so quite poignant.

That was the days of the marriage-clubs,I was only a kid but went into one of the offices to view their catalogue with an old taxi-driver from Brighton,he was a character,everyone called him Bill but his real name was derek,I would like to think he is still alive and growing old disgracefully in Pinas somewhere :icon_lol:
