although the first post illustrates a point that people tell us say "ni shabi" to a chinese person - it means, "i want to be your friend" , when in reality, it means . . . "You are a . . . :censored: "! lol!
Hey, even I have been guilty of this! Particularly with one geezer who was a nasty guy who loved the chinese gals . . . I think i killed his chances with that one :D:D:D:D:D

there was a guy who ordered wassabi (a japanese paste) in a Japanese Restaraunt in East China .. .. he didn't know the chinese word . .. . so he just asked for the wassabi! It sounded like "wo shabi"! . . . this means "I AM A **** ****"!
the waiter was appropriately stunned! ;)

joebloggs and baboyako...mahal means honey, sweetie, sweetheart, darling ..said as an endearment ....though mahal means also expensive.
and to Tom " ANG AKO IHI PULA" means if taken literally is my pee is red..hehehe.
Happy learning more bisayan words...happy to translate it for you...
