Four girls rescued from Australian
Posted on July 21, 2011 by cebudailynews
POLICE last night arrested a 78-year-old Australian for allegedly keeping four children as “sex slaves” in his house in barangay Inayagan, Naga City, in south Cebu.
Naga police served a search warrant against Angelo Farina in his rented bungalow about 10 p.m. Law enforcers rescued four girls aged 14 to 15 who were in a state of shock.
The house is a few blocks from the residence of Bella Ruby Santos, who is wanted with her British boyfriend Ian Charles Griffiths on charges of kidnapping and homicide for the Feb. 8 disappearance of a 6-year-old girl.
The search warrant was issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Macaundas Hadjirasul of Branch 8.
Police acted on a request for assistance from the Children’s Legal Bureau (CLB) who received reports about the foreigner’s conduct.
In an interview, CLB lawyer Noemi Truya-Abarientos said the Australian, who traveled in and out of the country, would allegedly have sexual relations with the girls at his pleasure.
She said the abuse started last year but the CLB learned about the situation just last April.
She told Cebu Daily News the victims were still in a state of shock after the raid and would be placed in the care of social workers.
The children are residents of barangay Inayagan. Their parents were not around.
Police recovered photos that showed the foreigner with the children. They confiscated his passport and still unidentified drugs.
Truya said other minors had filed a complaint against the Australian with the prosecutors’ office last year for the same offenses but their parents were persuaded by the foreigner to later execute an affidavit of desistance to withdraw the case.
The four girls rescued last night were turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Carcar City.
Farina was brought last night to the Naga City jail. /Reporter Ador Vincent S. Mayol

Who knows? :anerikke: ... it's not unheard of for the media to concoct stories of this kind in order to create a bit of high drama and sensationalism by focussing attention on an :olddude: more likely to be permanently afflicted by "brewers' droop" at his age!

TawiII may well be correct, we have a friend on Palawan falsely accused of improper behaviour with one his house staff... three weeks after he fired her for PROVEN and ADMITTED theft... and he did not involve the police because she had two young kids..talk about ungrateful!!!. fortunately for him he is well respected amongst the Filipino community and it did not go anywhere. BUT. it could have easily been a different story, another Swiss guy fled back home just on the strength of an accusation. took him months to get his family over there. It is a risk we run if we chose to live there and hire staff.

I have heard loads of similar stories over the years, everyones out to make a quick buck off the puti, years ago there was a guy who lived-in with a pinay and her kids, the father of the kids must have thought his luck was in and fabricated a story that the Live-in puti was molesting his kids, this led to a police raid, the puti being beaten up and arrested yada...yada...yada,I dont know how much he had to pay to secure his freedom but thats often all its about £...$...£...$...£...$ ;)

We used to have one of the wife's cousins or nieces help around the house.

You know what its like, loads of guys seem to go all Brad Pitt and think they are irresistable and try to pull anything in a skirt,or develop a drink habit :Erm: Some guys life just carries on as they would in the UK and are faithfull to wifey, those who havent had much female company in the UK are the ones who are normally tempted and like being stared at(there are always exceptions to every rule however :icon_lol: ) Glad I am too old for all of that game-play nowadays :Help1:

Australia has a policy of letting its citizens take the full brunt of the local laws if one of its citizens is convicted of child porn offences etc they will not intervene. Australia is quite open about this policy warning its own people that it looks down on those that travel abroad to commit offences.
Good on Australia i say!:xxgrinning--00xx3:
However if this is a scam that some suspect then it leaves questions!
