I would suggest that you copy everything at least once for YOURSELF and once for the authorities. There is recent thread on express parcels , I think DHL/FEDEX topped out as safe and reliable but not the cheapest

good luck and hope you are healthier these days and coping with stuff easier

Hi Tony send your documents with http://www.interparcel.com/ it's been recommended many times & it's what we just used. It is DHL, who will actually deliver it.

Tony, this is very important, please please read all the requirements on the UKBA site.
I know people have sent you the links, as I've read your recent posts...It appears you haven't read them, as it clearly states, you need to send copies of everything. (originals & a copy).

I say this, as we got confirmation of our spouse visa yesterday. We spent a lot of time, on our application & went through everything, very thoroughly.
We could have failed quite easily, as one area was weak, but I explained everything in as much detail as I could.

We really want you to succeed & you can, if you take the time to do it properly. :)

thankyou all, ive made copies of all the originals and scanned everything to my computer also, just need to get the co-sponsors papers of my wifes sister and copy then, then put all my documents into order. but i cant see anywhere on the ukba site that tells me where to put the copies, the site seam to leave us all guessing the details,

Sim11UK
5th August 2011, 10:03
Good idea, putting a co-sponsor letter in. Any extra evidence, can only be good.
Just make an ordered pile, of your original documents & a pile of your copies, in the same order. (2 piles)
I put them in 2 plastic folders, to post to my wife. She then arranged them, to suit, with all the documents she had.

Good luck! Tony, keep us posted. :)

one thing I found is that my documents sat in the post office in Manila until my (now) wife actually went down and inquired if there was anything for her. They didnt bother ringing to let her know they were there, or deliver them to her address.

This wont be a problem, if Tony uses one of the couriers mentioned, as the package will be delivered to his wifes door.
It's too risky & slow, to send it through the postal system. :NoNo:

\\\\ToNy////
6th August 2011, 00:47
il get all the papers packaged up before monday, then ill visit the dhl place to see how much,
should i just package it in brown paper and brown tape, as i think that dhl will put it in one of there boxes anyway.
onelast question, should i print 2 copies of my chat logs?
most of my chat logs are msn spreen prints, one chat per month, between 3 to 7 prints per chat, guys i think its best to stick with yahoo as msn is pretty useless, it only saved chats from oct 2010, all before that has gone, but my wifes is before that and ive had to get her to to learn how to do screen prints ect, was nearly mission imposible hehe,

Sim11UK
6th August 2011, 21:35
Yes Tony print 2 of everything, put one copy of chatlogs, in with the original docs & one in with the copies. There must be 2 of everything.
You need to package them properly, or they may charge you extra.
I put ours in 2 plastic folders, as mentioned above, then both in a big jiffy bag, then in one of those tough postal bags.

Screenshots of chatlog dates are good, that's all we submitted. They're not looking for all the actual chats. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Hi Lady_Ivy, well I decided not to. I have multiple entries into the Philippines, stamped in my passport & I guessed they could have checked me out, if they had wanted to?
I copied it twice, one in with the originals & one in with the copies & signed & dated them both myself...I suppose, there is a small risk, doing this?

ive printed the vaf4 and ill send it tomorrow with all my other documents, i havnt filled anything in

Hi Tony, i just want to add some info here ... first you need to do an online application .. fill it all what ever the question there that applicable to you and your wife. She need to help you answering on it coz it is for her and for you if she dont have any computer you need to talk to her online at the net. Then after you done answering it all you need to print it then it is the one you attache to all your documents. Not the print one with no answer. The last page said the signature of your wife then the date so when you have it then she can put her signature and the date when you done it online. When i am there inside the VFS they said that they only accept the online application printed with signature and date.

If you send the documents now you still have time to talk to her before she submit her application ..talk to her online so you can have the right application just do it together.. it is the question and answer between you and your wife so whatever you dont know or she dont know you are there and she is there to talk on it.

About the folder, anything you use as long as she can bring it safe inside the VFS coz she will out it all in folder and give the original and the copy to the teller. If you have an online appointment it is good coz she only need to wait her name to be called. Nothing to do inside VFS once you are inside just sit and wait your turn then after she submit the docs she need to wait to be called again for biometrics just do finger prints , ask some question then photo shot after that she can go home and wait for the result of her visa or she can roaming around Manila.

I hope it can help..and we wish you good luck on it all.

Hi,
I have been advised that a notarised copy of my passport is not required as my wife has my birth certificate which seemingly is enough.

I was worried about this as the passport has my arrival and departure stamps for 2 visits to phils, however I have also submitted a heap of other material such as receipts gained in Phils, air ticket stubs to and from Phils and paperwork from the UK embassy in Manila.

update, sent all the documents to my wife via dhl, i tracked it online, went to birmingham, then to east midlands airport, then onto hong kong then to manila by monday, then it all buggered up :(, said online that i needed to contact then to give correct address, this happened because the lady in staples didnt type the first line of the address, she just wrote it on the sticker,
son i called dhl and gave them the address, and emailed it to them on tuesday, thursday i called dhl in manila, the lady talked so fast and i couldnt understand a word, so i got my wife to ring there, and they said that the parcel is in the cabanatuan dhl, so my wife went there to pic it up herself,
:( was so stessful not knowing where the parcel was, would of helped if dhl rang me or my wife or emailed me to say its in cabanataun, but a is all good now and wife has the parcel, we have done the online application and will double check everything this weekend :) thanks all:)

All the photocopies are in mine too, so that might explain why it is a litttle bit pricey - not sure.

I was hoping for some opinion on the forum on the VIP lounge option. It is an extra expense. But considering the money already forked out it appears to be a good idea. My wife has a tough journey (10 tricycles and a million jeepney rides from Dasma to VFS - slight exageration yes - with a heavy parcel and she is only 4ft 11" tall !) . So I felt it wold be easier for her, on what will probably be a tough day. I could do without the extra expense, I have to admit, but I think it might be money well spent.

I think there was a thread on this but it is closed, I recall. Anybody recently used it and found it useful?

I haven't used it personally, but two of our recent family visitors (one still here) have used it.
yes, it's more expense, but I agreed to pay it as all the feedback was positive.
Helpful and friendly, air-con,photocopier,snacks,drinks,no long queue and no wasted times. Both our visitors said it was great and was so convenient.

As always, it's a personal choice. Feedback to me has been very positive despite the cost.

I know that there is no advantage to be gained in terms of the assessment. However, do you know if they help a nervous applicant ensure they get the materials together at the point of submission ( not so much a check on the content but more a check on photocopies and order etc )? Or do they take a step back on going that far?

:dohYour incomplete application will only be kept for 7 days. If you do not retrieve and complete the application within 7 days it will be deleted and you will need to make a new application.

:dohPLANNED MAINTENANCE 30/08/2011 to 31/08/2011: Visa4UK will be offline for maintenance from 09:00 on 30th August until 17:00 on 31st August 2011. For further information please visit www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk / www.ukvisas.gov.uk.

we had problems also entering the code on the application, it says enter code, +44 for example, but it wont let you enter the +, we just put 63 and 44,to be honest i wasnt very impressed with some of the daft problems, they should fix these things because its a very important application

We had a problem, entering the wifes phone number on the application...It wouldn't accept it?

Yes remittance is the money you've sent...I should put the papers you mention from your sister in-law, in with your financial details. :)

Has your application gone in yet Tony? We got a text from VFS today, after 3 days, saying:

"Visa application ref no AMAN/xxxxxxxxxx is being processed at the British Embassy. For processing guidlines visit www.vfs-uk-ph.com/guidlines.aspx. All applications are assessed individually which may result in varied processing times. This is currently our peak season hence applications can take longer to process."

I saw a post by Win2Win yesterday, which indicated that there are a lot of visitors visas going in for Xmas, at this time.......

By manager's cheque obtained from any bank registered in the Philippines. Cheques should be made payable to the 'British Embassy'. Only managers' cheques with the correct fee and payable to 'British Embassy' will be accepted. There is a bank charge when you purchase a manager's cheque which varies from bank to bank. You should ensure that you obtain a receipt.

also my wife has only taken pictures of the front of the cards, i know this is not good and that they need coppies of what is written, as far as they are conserned they is nothing written inside the cards, am i rite or wrong, but my wife will be suplying the original cards anyway.

Tony, for the visa fee, the manager's checque should be payable to BRITISH EMBASSY only..do not confuse it with the VIP premium lounge service..you will be able to pay P1800 in cash for the VIP premium lounge at the vfs..the vfs employee would collect P1800 from you after you've given all the docs and the biometrics..

Just spotted the problem.

The VIP lounge fee of 1800 is paid to VFS directly on the day.

The visa fees managers cheque is made payable to the embassy.

Tony as we've said before copy everything. No it's not good enough, to send the original card, then just make a copy of the front of the card...What was written in the card, is proof of your relationship.

I know it's getting you down, but everybody feels like that. It's hard trying to find all of the info. I kept running out of ink, when I copied all my docs out, plus stayed up all night, one night to finish copying them, as I needed to send them to the Philippines next day...Good communication & support, between you & your wife is what you want, to get through this.

You're nearly there. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

They get the majority done within 30 working days. Unusual for them to call unless they just want to clarify something.
