Hi I'm Jason. Im 38, in a relationship and gay.

I am a graduate of chemistry and used to teach science at high school. I am now unemployed but actively searching for work.

I want to move to Philippines eventually but finding a job is not easy.

Hope that many of you, British or Filipino will become my friends on here.

Thanks/Salamat

Jason

Hi Jason, welcome to the forum.
You will find plenty of new friends here.

I wish you very good luck in your quest.
Did you mean you are seeking employment in Philippines?
Securing permission to work in Phils is tough and actually finding a job even tougher.
But the toughest of all might well be surviving on a local salary. By no means impossible but a tough challenge.

Feel free to ask as many questions as you need to inform your strategy.

Hi Jason,

Welcome to the forum.

In Philippines, you may teach English language to schools that mostly caters to Koreans, Japanese, Chinese and Taiwanese who goes to Philippines to learn English.

I knew an Englishman who also runs a dive shop/ certifies diving in Cebu and he used to teach English, but he is married to a filipina who gives him the residential permit to live in Phils.

Or you can opt to try the Universities in the Philippines as they don't have much qualified Chem teachers. Just check which schools though, I suggest you check with International Schools in Manila or Cebu. They pay very very good salary too even for filipinos so for a qualified teacher like you, then you have a very good edge.

Let me know what I can help as I know plenty of professional gay friends back home are very good at their chosen field and who knows people to ask friends to.

In the Philippines we have this saying.. it is not what you know, but it is "who" you know and many expats who lived there for long have realized that.

Good luck to your quest.
