For me this is Madonna at her best

The bit where she dances in front of the burning crosses is a powerful image too:)

I never liked Madonna until I saw her perform at Live Aid, she wasn't necessarily a great singer, but she had massive sex appeal to a spotty 17 yr old in 1985:hubbahubba: I still don't like her music, but I wouldn't say no (even now):D

She is not a great singer true but it was a combination of her singing, style, innovation and daring-ness and ability to change her appearance and type of song as she went along.

Going back further ... the few older members here, will recall an even EARLIER icon - Dusty Springfield ... pin up of many a youth in the 1960s - and the subsequent shock :cwm24: it must've been to learn about this Australian beauty being either "gay" or bisexual. But there again, ... wasn't there some speculation that Madonna "batted for both sides??" :anerikke:
