Very long story but i`ll give you the short version.

My father in law lived in singapore for about 15yrs until earlier this year when he returned to the uk seriously ill and needing hospital care.
He had married a phillipino woman in singapore about 10 yrs ago.
Initially when he came back to the uk she went back to the phillipines and is now trying to get a visa to join him here as it appears he will be in hospital for a considerable period of time.
She is in the process of renewing her phillipino passport.
What is the situation here? Can she come to the uk relatively easily? Will she need a visa and if so how much can that cost? They have travelled to the uk together previously.

Any help appreciated as you can imagine its a tense time.

thanks

thanks for the heads up.

last visa here was i think april 2008 and sept 2007 before that. i dont think she has been here since then (info has always been a bit sketchy as my wife lived with her mum in the uk after they divorced) and both occasions it was just a holiday and as far as i`m aware they left before the (tourist i presume) visa ran out.

Firstly, :welcomex: to the filipino/uk forum.

Secondly, I'd like to give you 'a lttle' (excuse the pun) reassurance :olddude: ... based on your father-in-law's Filipino wife's travel history up until now - assuming she fully complied with the Ts & Cs of each of the tourist visas granted to her in the past - which would, on the face of it, augur well for any subsequent visits.

Thirdly ... given the serious nature of her husband's illness - and his resultant indefinite period of hospitalisation - it MAY be feasible for her to make application to the British Embassy in Manila, on compassionate grounds. Equally, it *MIGHT [*again] be possible to arrange this through the Home Office.
