View Full Version : pls help which is the cheapest way to send money for VISA fee!!!

Hi everyone. This is Maricris soon I will lodge my visa application 1st or 2nd week of December. My husband he will send me money for my visa fee which is the cheapest rate, better, and secured route...Is it thru western union, money gram or bank transaction but I have an account on BPI (not joint acct.)...can anyone recommend us. any help is much more appreciated. Thank you so much in advance.

hope it helps only she can get it as with me after i send the money your given a mtcn with 12 numbers without this she cannot get the money i phone my fiancee with the number after i send and she has to show prove plus if you want you can put a question for her that she will know but dont forget to tell her lol

I sent mine by moneygram but it cost almost £20 to do that. But as some people will point out, it isnt just about the fee, it is also about the exchange rate that they give you.

The reason I sent the visa fee by moneygram was partly habit as I sent my wife money each week by that same method and she didn have a bank account.

My wife felt uneasy about carrying so much money so she took someone with her.

thanks lastlid.....you are right lastlid it depends the exchange rate but I am only confused Is it true some bank the exchange rate is lower compared to the western union or other money changer.

To be honest, I didnt shop around. That was mainly as my wife and I had established a routine with moneygram. And owing to wanting to get the visa fee sent and paid, so that she could apply for her visa, I wanted to simply ensure that she got the money okay, without a hitch.

the cheapest way that we had was transferring it through bank account BPI...£9 two days max to clear.

my husband used bank for sending me visa payments.its comfortable that way,besides u can buy/instruct ur bank for a managers check payable to "British Embassy".goodluck

i used Kanoo foriegn exchange, and you can pay the charges this end so what you send the receive it all, any amount and straight into your partners bank account, it worked for us

we did bank transfer , my husband opened an account with bpi plc europe and tranfered the money on my bpi account in ph,...remittance charge of £8 per £1,000-£2,000 please check this link http://www.bpieuropeplc.com/

My husband sending me our budget through ALLIED Bank..he said he only pay £6 fee any amount he sent.

Hi john, we always use a company called exchange 4 free http://exchange4free.co.uk/ they do just what it says on the wrapper,
Its an online thing, where you call them from a landline agree an exchange rate and they give you a code to put in the transfer form online that garuantees that rate, and they will send to any bank in the world.
We have always used them for large sums of money,

for smaller amounts nanay has a lloyds tsb debit card and just goes to the whole in the wall

I used to Paypal to pay for a holiday in Spain a few years ago ( about 1000 pounds ). Worked well. So I imagine you can send a similar amount to your fiance without a problem.......

Sending it through western union or moneygram is the safest way... My fiance used to send me money before inserted and taped inside a card through ordinary post (it arrived!) that was done out of stupidity though.

However, money transfer charges seems too expensive. does your husband has BPI account? there is a BPI branch in UK, they have lesser service charge though. If he does, that is the cheapest way I think.

Bank transfer is the safest, at least that way you won't be out in town with 50,000 + peso in your pocket.

Uf you have a BDO account in Phils, Orbit Remit service ocly costs 5-7 pounds no matter how much u wants to transfer and you can also arrange two types of cash pick at every branch of BDO bank and all MLhuillier outlets
