Is that right? You have to wait 2 weeks after the test to get the result?

We had to wait 15 days after I think, earlier this year. However, that test is no longer on the approved list.

December 10 is IELTS schedule I think.. Just practice online.. There are lots of online exercises. You only need to get at least 4.0 in the four components. Not a problem at all.. Even high school graduates can obtain 4.0. Wish you luck... December 10 is the date.

PS. Answer all the tasks in speaking even in two sentences. Go straight to the point! Hit the examiner! 2 minutes might not be enough if you expound and explain all the details. Just HIT the EXAMINER! Break a leg!

Hello Bless, are you lodging application for a fiance or work visa? Spouse and fiances just need 4.0.. However, the greater the band score, the better for working opportunities in the UK...I took IELTS last Oct. 22.. And Got 7.5 band score... :xxgrinning--00xx3::xxgrinning--00xx3:

Does anybody know what the TOEIC equivalent is in terms of band score. My wife took TOEIC and not IELTS and the banding is different.

For nursing what TOEIC level would she need?

I think you can download the document from UKBA, if your fiancee is getting to by fiancee visa, then she is only required to get a lower band score BUT she should aim for the band score which is required of a NURSE (so there would be better opportunities for work). Hit two birds at the same time.
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/applicationforms/new-approved-english-tests.pdf

the list did not specify which is for nurses though.. Otherwise, look at the equivalency table.. If IELTS requires 7.0 band score for nurses, compare IELTS and TOEIC scores on the site below...

Hi Thanks. My wife already has her Spouse Visa and is in the UK. I was wondering if her TOEIC scores were high enough for nursing work here. They were obviously high enough for the UKBA.

lastlid,

As with most things it's not quite a simple as it could be.
There's not really any accurate direct conversion of scores between the various tests.

IELTS has 2 different versions, General (easier) and the Academic (more difficult) .

For nursing the IELTS requirement states:-

You must complete the academic version of the IELTS test and achieve:

At least 7.0 in the listening and reading sections
At least 7.0 in the writing and speaking sections
At least 7.0 (out of a possible 9) overall

We will not accept applicants who score lower than this standard.

A TOEIC minimum score of 780 would be approximately equivalent to IELTS score 7

It may not be perfect but at least gives an idea.

Thanks Terpe. Presumably that 780 is the aggregate score for all four TOEIC tests combined? And presumably she would need to have achieved a minimum TOEIC score in each test?

I don't think she did as well as that. Possibly just under. Me and her need to look into it a bit more. Thanks.

Hello!lastlid,

I saw the equivalency in UKBA try to look on it.
what score did she get if you don't mind?and does your wife check the NMC website?

lastlid

Hi. Thanks. She scored enough for the UKBA Spouse Visa application, but not enough for nursing in the UK as far as I can see.
