My wife and I are travelling to the philippines for a holiday in January. We will be out of the country for 23 days. She has a philippine passport and a two year visa (march 2010).How long is she permitted to be out of the uk for?

Hi there Dave,

Actually there is no mention, question or declaration for any restrictions on absences from UK on FLR visa and when it's time to make application for ILR so your planned 23 days holiday under the current vis will be no problem whatsoever.

For the future only though, just be reminded that there are restictions on absences from UK when applying for British Citizenship.
These restrictions reach back a few years and include time spent under FLR also.

In principle the restrictions used for application of Naturalisation state that you must not:-
have not spent more than 270 days outside the United Kingdom during the three-year period prior to naturalisation application
and
have not spend more than 90 days outside the United Kingdom in the preceding 12 months leading to application of naturalisation.

BTW, on arrival at Phils immigration you should be sure to present yourselves and your documents together for a Balikbayan stamp that will allow you 1 year stay as spouse
You may need to provide copy of marriage cert so better take that one with you.
You will need to ask as only 21 days stay is normally allowed under visa waiver scheme.

Have a really great holiday :xxgrinning--00xx3:
Wish I was going

Thanks Andy,
You've got it, the longer you stay on board in the forum the more all this stuff comes together and makes sense. Although it may not be relevant right now, one of these days the questions will be important.
Don't know about the answers though with changes afoot :NoNo:
