Good day everyone! Kumusta? I have a question with regard to above subject.

The type of my visa is a fiance visa. After we got married we applied for the FLR (M) but when i received my residence permit, they still used my maiden name probably because they followed the details on my passport. According to ukba if there is a change in name you need to have an application for a replacement of biometric residence permit within 3 months. My question now is do i need to change my passport and amend my maiden name to my married name before i can apply for the replacement of my biometric residence permit? And what are the other requirements? . . . Haaaaay, so many hassles and very stressfull. :doh Many many thanks again for all the help. :)

Hi Jen, yes you need to change your passport to your married name before you can apply for a replacement on your resident permit.
I have mine with my single name but I am not bothered to change it
First, I got my NI, Bank Account, GP etc with my married name without any problem. Just always make sure that you have your marriage certificate with you when they ask for it.
Secondly, my passport will expire on 2014 so it would be practical to get a new one by then.
BUT if your passport will expire soon it would be wise to get a new one with your married name on.
Goodluck and I hope it helps you a bit. :)
