Sounds like you're in their hands, what's the problem ? surely the oath taking can wait and you use your Phil passport to travel on

Apologies didn't realise you sent your passport in - IIRC when you do the nationality checking service through local authorities they photocopy it and give it back to you.

How about emailing Theresa May mayt@parliament.uk asking if she would tell the Home Office/UKBA pen pushers to pull their finger out and start providing a public service :)

I'm pretty sure you already checked this page (http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/aboutus/contact/contactspage/contactcentres), but just in case you didn't here are the contact details:-

Please contact the nationality contact centre if you require further support on the British citizenship section of this website. This section aims to answer all frequently asked questions on British nationality law and contains full details of:

what British citizenship is;the different types of British nationality;the requirements you need to meet to become a British citizen;how to make an application;the cost of making an application;the nationality checking service;where completed application forms should be sent;the current waiting times for nationality applications; andcitizenship ceremonies.
Phone: 0845 010 5200

Email: ukbanationalityenquiries@ukba.gsi.gov.uk

Opening Hours: Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) 0900 - 1700. During our busy period between 1200 and 1400 you may experience problems speaking to an advisor. It is therefore advisable to call during other times of the day when we are less busy.

Also take a look at this UKBA page to see nationality waiting times (http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/britishcitizenship/applying/waitingtimes)

It says:-
"You should think very carefully before applying if you require your passport within the next three months...............
...................All applications for citizenship are subject to enquiries to ensure that the statutory requirements have been satisfied. Because of these enquires, we anticipate that applications may take up to six months to complete. Some applications may be dealt with more quickly and some may take longer, depending on the nature of the enquiries to be carried out.

Our service standards set out how quickly we aim to decide applications for British citizenship.
The standard is that we will decide 95% of applications within six months."

I would suggest that you send them an e-mail stating your travel plans and requesting them to either expedite your application or to return your passport. I would have thought they completed the key checks already.

yes I've read everything. When they say that if you don't have travel plans on the next 3 mos you can send. That's why I have decided to send my application since my travel plans is still next feb. I never thought it would take this long to check. I've been asking my friends how long it take to have their citizenship they say its just few weeks not same as mine. I will definitely state my travel plans next yr. thanks for the advice :-)

Hi I did call UKBA but its just an automated machine since they can't transfer any calls. Saying they can't tell the progress to anyone who sends the application for the last 6 months. My only option is just the email. thanks :-)
