Hi,

I have only just found this site by chance, would have helped me a lot more if i found it a few months ago.
Planning to get married in April or May and reading a few threads on here is it looking more harder than i thought.

Yep. I know what you mean. Back in March this year, I thought I could just turn up in Phils, marry my gf and fly back with her a few days later. How naive I was. Little did I know that it is much harder than you might think.....and what's more, if you are planning on bringing your wife back to the UK, it is set to get harder.

Wealth of knowledge on this site.....

Welcome to the forum....from another Yorkie. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

This is definitely the best place to get good advice and guidance through the process.

Never knew there was so much red tape to get through. Only ever been to Cebu a few times as that is where my future wife is, love the place and i could stay in the province and live a quiet life any time.

Thanks for all the welcome posts. I had a few questions about Cenomar and CNI and i thought i posted these questions on this site but i much not have Respected status yet. How can i post up a query i have? We are planing to get married this May and all i can see is the days counting down and me still having so much paperwork to sort out.

One more thing that concerns me is that my fiancee lives in Cebu and i have been flying straight from Manchester - Doha - Cebu and missing out Manila. Is there a British Embassy is Cebu where i can change my CNI for a local one or do we have to fly to Manila?

Hi Rory.

I think you can sort things out in Cebu, but not 100% certain if you can complete the whole process there.

Someone will be along shortly who can advise better.

Just allow a day or two for the forum to liven up again....probably few hangovers around still. :Cuckoo:

I don't know if you can search on here yet, but give it a try. We have quite a few Cebu-based members.

Rory,
May I suggest you review the UK in the Philippines website (http://ukinthephilippines.fco.gov.uk)(British Embassy)

Check out the links down the right hand side, especially 'Help For British Nations' (http://ukinthephilippines.fco.gov.uk/en/help-for-british-nationals), then 'Living In The Philippines' (http://ukinthephilippines.fco.gov.uk/en/help-for-british-nationals/living-in-the-philippines)
If you scroll down the page you'll see plenty more info to help you.

You can find details of the British Consulate in Cebu by looking here (http://ukinthephilippines.fco.gov.uk/en/about-us/other-locations/cebu-city/cebu)

A couple of other useful links for you would be:-

Marriage and civil partnerships (http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/travel-and-living-abroad/births-deaths-marriages-civil/marriage-and-civil-partnerships)

and

Certificate of No Impediment (http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/travel-and-living-abroad/births-deaths-marriages-civil/marriage-and-civil-partnerships/CNI-nulla-ostas)

Happy searching !
