Arggghhhhhhhhhhh philippines!

As some of you know, from my previous post like half a decade ago :)) I was the filipina who lived in the UK for 20 years who didnt want to apply for a british passport. Well finally 2 years ago I did it! I am now a brit! Officially...
Now I am back in the Philippines been here for about 4 months now going 5. There is a family crisis that we are trying to resolve. Whilst being here I thought that hmmm I am home, but it doesnt feel like home anymore. More and more I miss the UK! it is so shocking as I've also thought I hated it there, that life here in the phils is way better.
I miss my british life, i miss going to the cashpoint and having to worry if it is offline! and what is with filipinos and ATM's they take forever! they put their card in pray the rosary, enter their pin say prayer a bit more, enters the amount says another prayer money comes out of the atm at a very slow rate and again they put their card in for what???? I am always stuck in a line trying to get cash out, on average they take at least 5 mins/person! In the uk it takes but 1 minute :((.
and what is with filipinos not forming a line! in the checkouts, banks, drugstore! get in line people!!!! it so annoys me when i patiently wait and somebody comes along and cuts the queue!
when in the cinema, turn off ur moblies and refrain from talking!!!! you are not gonna die if you sit there and watch a movie without having to answer txts and calls.
and for the able filipinos use the escalators! lifts are for the elderly!
the disabled toilets are for disabled people, the mother and baby changing rooms are not for everybodys use, and most of all flush the toilet!
i can go on and on and on, but i feel my highblood pressure rising :laugher:

to sum this is all: I MISS THE UK, I MISS THE PEOPLE, I MISS QUEING, I MISS THE WEATHER, AND MOST OF ALL I LOVE LIFE THERE! THE SOONER I GET 'HOME' THE BETTER!

I well remember your rants about the UK and how much you wanted to go back 'home'. As you've now realised, when you feel a little homesick in the UK you only remember the happy times you had back in the Phil not all the annoying things. Now you are back there you've realised that annoying list is very very long compared to the one you had in the UK. :)

Well it wasn't for me when I was there..I love being in the Philippines despite of the bad things..You won't feel like that if you accept what you have or can't have in any place you live..Everything is just a matter of acceptance about the situation you are in. I got lots of friends and relatives living overseas for a very long time. But you would still hear them wanting to go back and live in the Philippines and would want to stay for good whenever they have vacation, despite the crisis that you guys are referring to.

Yes ... :iagree: I remember only too well, the frustrations encountered during my second visit: faulty ATMs (marginally better, I suppose, than being charged the equivalent of 'x' number of dollars each time I wanted to cash a single 'American Express' Travellers Cheque when I was there for the first time two months earlier) my place in the Shopping Mall queues specifically "reserved" for elderly customers (which I :olddude: was) being usurped by people half my age jostling for first~come, first~served positions, :doh ... to name but a couple of the most infuriating!!

Mind you, the seemingly interminable wait for my wife's spousal visa practically throughout the latter period, didn't exactly help matters. :NoNo:

:gp:s Rayna ... as I've highlighted in your response. After all, :anerikke: the Philippines is where you were born and bred. And you're right ... it's a question of acceptance - adjusting to ... and fitting in with, the environment - WHEREVER one finds oneself - as Graham mentioned earlier. At the present time, however, I'm receiving ongoing medical surveillance in the wake of my urological operation last November ... and any treatment arising from this seems likely to continue for the rest of my life.

So, please forgive any apparent hint of cynicism in my two previous posts; I assure you no offence is intended. Truth be told - in spite of what I said - I am a great "champion" of the Philippines ... and, particularly its people, whom I cherish as being amongst the friendliest to be found anywhere. But ... given my current medical circumstances ... I have to be thankful for living here in the UK with its National Health Service. Guess we Brits are spoilt for choice in that respect! :)

I am so used to orderly queue, clean toilets,
people who hold the door for others. There is
no doubt that filipinos are a happy bunch
but when it comes down to it they are rude.
Just today i was in the mall and dear mother
wanted to use the loo as her diaper is full,
she needed to change so off to the toilet we
go, went to the disabled and elderly we found
about 4 middle aged women waiting to use the
elderly loo, i politely said that is for the OAP's
one woman looked back and said she doesnt
care, she was there first. What is wrong with
the world?? Is there no respect left for the elderlies?
I can go on and on but i wont. It is my opinion
that i prefer my life in the uk. I enjoy the peace
and quiet, hearing only my dog barking :))

Like me, you must be living a somewhat sheltered life in UK.
Currently we are mostly enjoying our life in the village.

Before we moved here in our village we lived in the town-centre. Not quite the same at all.
I have lived in a few large cities around the world and yet on returning to UK after years away I saw rude, stressed, miserable and scruffy people, constant queue jumping and hostile aggressive behaviour with a 'couldn't care less' attitude from young and old especially unruly screaming kids.

Got a little bit used to it now though.:rolleyes:

I think that's true many times.

But.................how about this, when I lived in Japan I truthfully never had any stressful life (apart from the usual stresses of working in a safety critical industry).
I know that a large part of this was not being culturally immersed in certain aspects of being Japanese, but nevertheless those were the happiest times so far.
My wife feels just the same.
