Manila before was indeed clean, organized and well kept. No pollution, no garbage, no snatchers, no mendicants, no traffic congestion, less people, less stress and everything that's simple and easy. I wish I could turn back the clock, I'd love to exist during this era. :D

Thanks for posting, Juvy ! I was there :xxgrinning--00xx3: See my photos on the link below * .
Here's what I said :
I first visited the Philippines in 1978, when Martial Law had been imposed by President Marcos.
He established the Philippines Heart Center ( Quezon City ) in 1975, and the Cultural Center ( Pasay City ) in 1966.
The first shopping mall ( Harrison Plaza in Malate ) had just been opened.
Rustan's upmarket department store ( Makati ) had been established in 1951, and now has a branch outside Manila, in Cebu City.
Roxas Boulevard ( formerly Dewey Boulevard ) was named in the 1960's to honour the 5th President ( Manuel Roxas ).
Jeepneys were originally " cannibalized " from vehicles left by departing Americans after World War II, but don't appear to have changed much now.
Perhaps I have changed more, and the filipina with me is now in her 50's .

Fascinating pictures...many thanks for posting. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

They still had the 'Love Bus' service back in 1990 when I first went to the Phils, but without the metalwork on top. 8 pesos flat fare, Ermita to Makati. :)

Handy for going to the British Embassy for visa application, etc.
