Binignit is a vegetable stew from the Visayas region in the Philippines. The dish is traditionally made by Cebuanos with slices of saba, taro, sweet potato. The people in the neighboring island Leyte, usually include landang (palm flour jelly balls), langka (jackfruit), anise and thickened with milled glutinous rice in cooking binignit. The vegetables along with pearl sago is cooked in a mixture of water, coconut milk and the local landang and sweetened by muscovado or brown sugar.:Jump:

Yes, I think she is enjoying any Pinoy food that she can cook as she hasnt really become used to UK food too well. ( I introduced her to baked beans the other week that she loved until she discovered what an adverse effect it can have on her!)

You must have a good camera Moy? As your pics are clear and close up. My wife has quite a good camera and she uses it to good effect to photograph food that she cooks to show her mom, through facebook :icon_lol: she gets the tripod out and all that....

Me too. But you may have noticed that I no longer have pictures of myself and my wife on the forum as she asked me to remove them. I therefore have had to do as my little kitchen boss has asked. We don't agree on everything and this is one area where we differ, so I am sorry to say that whilst I am happy to share information about ourselves, she is not.

I took my wife for a chinese meal last night for valentines, she seems to like chinese food....

Anyway, I had banana fritters for my sweet. Banana deep fried in batter with maple syrup and ice cream....very nice indeed. Seems it goes by the name of Turon or Maruya in Philippines.
