What a shocker! A true true superstar.
Only 48 years old, so sad.
I'm still feeling genuinely numb. She was one of my all time favourites. What a fantastic voice and with such power and range.
RIP Whitney Houston

Maybe back in the day she was ok, I never really took to her or her music.

She was in the later stages of her life just another off the rails drug and drink fuelled diva. Sad that she died but should be seen as a lesson to all.

I'm really genuinely saddened by this.

She was always one of my favourite ladies, regardless of whether she could even sing a note.

I hope that idiot she married is feeling very guilty now, though that won't bring her back. He is the one who allegedly got her into the drugs and alcohol, as well as physically beating her.

Before marrying him (Bobby Brown), I saw her interviewed on (possibly) Parkinson, and she came across as a very sweet and decent church-going kind of lady, a picture of good health too.

Her cousin, another great singing star, Dionne Warwick was performing beautifully and looking great on the Jonathan Ross show last night....despite her age, and I happened to mention Whitney in conversation with my son.

Sadly it would seem that at that time she was taking her last breaths.

RIP Whitney.

Another star bites the dust:cwm24: The sad thing is that there are really no replacements these days...... I'm truly shocked that she was only 48. Loved her song I will always love you. It was a master piece. R.I.P. Whitney.... Gone but not forgotten.

i think I've read somewhere it was the other way around, it was Whitney who introduced bobby brown to drugs, I dont know if thats true but

its reported she started smoking marijuana when she was in high school and continued throughout her early career.

Maybe so Joe.
Who truly knows what went on behind closed doors ?

I really have no time though for any 'man' who physically abuses a woman...allegedly, and I would be most surprised if Mr. Brown was actively encouraging Whitney to quit any bad habits she may have had, something that any decent human being would seek to do for their spouse.

It appears she made a very poor choice of partner. :NoNo:

Showbiz certainly seems to wreck a lot of lives.

Obviously The movie was "The Bodyguard" and the song " I will always love you" but as well as she sang it I still think the best version is by it's writer Dolly Parton http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_utP1mGoutQ ..Also Burt is mighty fine in this Movie "Grrrowlll" Anyway thats a different subject :hubbahubba:

Graham..Seems like that is not completely accurate now.. A few of her closest friends have now said that she was a drug user before Bobby Brown came on the scene.. Whitney is on record saying that it was her that beat him up!!
Who really knows what went on behind closed doors?? Not us.

OH, Whitney chooses her life to be worst, she abusive on drugs and alcohol, in last year 2011 she send to rehabilitation again, her voice got problem cause of abuse drugs( she accept on the interview, that she use marijuana, cocaine.. etc. and alcohol. i see on news also, when she had a concert in UK, she always had cough, voice not like before in many past years.. then she is out of timing of her voice when she in on the stage. she getting more worst when they annulled her husband.

When whitney change her life when she alive, she cleanse her life, had a possibility, she still alive now.

that is how we repay our sins, death is a part of life. So god give us a freedom to chose his children what to do to our lives. only 2 paths " Bad or Good".

So far they've only reported she had prescription drugs with her, and as they are given out like sweets in the USA, and advertised on TV so people are 'desperate' for them and the doctors never say no, it results in the early death of 10,000's of Americans. :NoNo:

I grew up listening to her hits and ballads in the 80s and 90s and it is tragic indeed. I'm sure she has found her peace now.
