:xxgrinning--00xx3: time Cameron did what most of the country, even his mother wants :xxgrinning--00xx3:
David Cameron was under mounting pressure to defy Europe on Tuesday night and put Abu Qatada on a plane out of the UK as Jordan pledged to give him a fair trial.
A security adviser for the Prime Minister was among those who said all options should be considered, including sending Qatada back to Jordan regardless of a European court ruling that he should not be sent.
Former security minister Baroness Pauline Neville-Jones said minister should not rule out such a move if other attempts to remove him fail.
It came as the Jordan justice minister Ayman Odeh promised Qatada would be given a new and fair trial with no evidence gained from torture.
Mr Odeh was speaking after meeting with a UK delegation, led by security minister James Brokenshire, which is seeking necessary assurances to be able to return the extremist cleric.
A friend of Qatada’s family claimed the firebrand preacher would be happy to return if the King of Jordan guaranteed a fair trial.
