Take a look here:

http://lifeintheuktest.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/

and here:

http://www.hiren.info/life-in-the-uk-test/1

You need to get 75% to pass the test.

Hope that helps
and welcome to the forum Celia :)

I think for the spousal Visa is, You only need to get at least 4.0 in the four components, :D Read this forumhttp://filipinaroses.com/showthread.php/34306-Hello-everyone

Hi Celia and welcome to the Forum. Yes I believe the IELTS score requirement for spousal visa is 4.0. My wife passed the test in December and I'm sure she will be able to answer any questions you might have.:Hellooo:

Hello and welcome!
Last year, I came to the UK on a spouse visa.
I did not take an English proficiency test. On my husband's letter, he said that I should be exempt from taking/submitting that test. To prove my English proficiency, I submitted my university diploma and employment contracts with UK & US call centres that I've worked for. It was a big gamble. If UKBA hadn't considered myself as exempt from taking the test, my husband and I would have said goodbye to PHP50,000 something visa application fee.
Amazingly, my visa got approved in 5days. :)

Hi there, yes it was surely a big risk if you did not comply with UKBA requirements for exceptions.
May I ask, why did you take such a huge risk? compared to the small cost in complying with either the English Test or the exceptions.

Well done anyway :xxgrinning--00xx3:

My husband and I thought the exam was unnecessary, ridiculous and a rip off.
UKBA policies back then had a list of universities that if you are a graduate of one of them, you might be exempt from taking the exam. Well, the university(UST) which I graduated from wasn't even on that list, but it is still A university. I'm not sure if the policies are still the same now though.
I thought my call centre work history would help my application because:
If the immigration officer want a genuine measure of English proficiency, then look no further than a call centre background!
