A student from the Philippines wed a woman in Watford, despite already being married, in order to apply for residency in the UK.

He was sentenced to eight months imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, and 120 hours community service.

i think he got off really lightly, considering what the sham marriage lot usually get. (1yr + in prison)

Thats what I thought - probably because he put his hands up - I don't agree with leniency its easy to say sorry when there's a cast iron case against you.

what makes it even worse, he actually got married :doh and he was already married, double the penalty :angry:

Beats me why anyone would do bigamy. I mean - TWO mothers in laws? :doh
