http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/02/28/number_of_biometric_permits_to_double/

I guess there will be queues around the blocks - 10mins per person accross 17 Post offices... surely they will need to add more post offices to the list???

Theres a video showing how the Biometrics are done on this page - useful if you wonder (just like wondering what plain clothes policemen wear on a day off)!

If they are open 8 hours a day and there are 300 odd days a year you can walk into a post office then surely 400,000 people cannot actually get registered? Some people applying via PEO's will reduce that but I bet thats not more than 20,000 paying for a premium service.

I dunno maths was never my strong point (or anything else academic for that matter)!

latest news regarding new rules for BRP.

The Post Office Ltd will provide a service for applicants to provide their biometric information throughout a network of locations across the UK. This will ensure that a biometric enrolment facility is within reasonable travelling distance for most of applicants. The additional Post Office locations will join the 17 branches already offering biometric enrolment. We expect the additonal branches to be operational from March 2012, with all 104 locations operating by 10 April 2012.
