The search continues for a suitable location for a 75,000-capacity stadium as the permanent home for the Philippines national team.

"As the sport gains popularity, so does the number of Filipinos who want to see our team perform live in action," politician Rufus Rodriguez told philstar.

"It is high time that we bring back the glory days of football in the Philippines like in the '70s and the '80s when the Philippine football team was among the strongest in Asia. In contrast, our neighbours in Asia have bigger and better stadiums."

Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Jose 'Peping' Cojuango said Clark, three miles west of Angeles City, would be ideal.

A new stadium would be great, but I hope they don't end up building (or half building) a "white elephant".

Surely they need to keep the stadium in Manila? I don't see the advantage in moving it to Clark, meaning that all the fans from the city need to travel for hours to get there!

Also, 75000 capacity is a pretty big stadium! They may be able to fill that for a visit of LA Galaxy, but at the moment, the average international would see it more than half empty.
