Hi Stevi
I'm sure that Kingston University/College is where all the Trainee Nurses attend. Perhaps they might be able to help you or indeed provide Training Courses to suit.

I don't think there is any formal qualification needed to engage in any employment as a carer.
Once you have gained employment with a decent employer you should be able to study your NVQ courses in social care.

My daughter started as a care assistant about 7 years ago. No qualification required. She is just completing her RN certification now.

My daughter didnt. She is in manchester.

She did that for about a year, then got a job as a nursing assistant at the Manchester Royal Infirmary.

She now specialises in diet, Moy. :D Dietetic Nursing.

She is one of the reasons that I am more careful about what I eat these days....:D

I currently work as a carer. No qualification needed. They will check your CRB, and in the future you can study and get your NVQ at the same time :)

That is what she did. I am not saying it has to be done exactly that way. She had just failed her degree (in Russian of all things) and was at a loss at the age of 24, as to what to do instead. So she ended up as a care assistant for about a year, maybe a bit less and then applied for a job as a nursing assistant as she wasnt qualified as a nurse. She is still a nursing assistant but is on the verge of becoming an RN (Registered Nurse) . To become a fully fledged RN she has had to study.

The time spent as a care assistant helped her get a foot in the door with her nursing assistant job.

In dietetics she is involved with those that either over eat in a big way or don't eat enough for their own good...:D

I just submitted my application, got interviewed and told them that I have no experience about it but I'm willing to learn. Then I was offered the job. The company will do the CRB for you. Always prepare all the work documents (NI, Passport, etc). The earlier you can present them, the quicker you can start. :)

In the future I am planning to get an NVQ certificate, or maybe a Nursing qualification if I have saved enough :)
