Try opening a joint account. We did that with the Isle of Man part of Royal Bank of Scotland. You could eventually remove your name from the account.

We have ours in joint names as we get post from them in joint names which is handy for evidence for ILR.

This is what we did.

Step 1. I opened up the account in my name.

Step 2. Added my wife to the account a few weeks later.

I am having the same problem but I hope we can sort it out soon. My husband wants to add my name on his bank account to make it a joint account apparently, and the bank needs a proof of address on my name. We sorted out Tenancy agreement in joint names but the bank manager said Its not acceptable :Erm:, so we are now trying to add my name on the electricity and water bill. Hopefully It will work then.

Okay. We had a similar problem, however the bank deemed our tenancy agreement in joint names as acceptable.

Natwest.

Thats interesting as Royal Bank of Scotland, Natwest and the Isle of Man Bank are all the same company.

It wasn't plain sailing for us. And quite convoluted, so much so that I cant remember the half of it. But I did find that I got a different story depending on who exactly I spoke to inside the bank. The higher I went, the more sense I got.

Funny thing was that our apartment was less than a minutes walk from the bank!

You could also try your NHS card from the doctor's surgery if you have registered and they have sent you one. Ours has our address on it - they normally do.
