Moy, if you call LBC, they would deliver you a box, jumbo size is 20 x 21 x 31..just call their hotline number and a Filipina would answer the call and would schedule you for box delivery..it'll cost you £10 per box and it'll be deducted from the total amount for delivery to Pinas. Here's LBC's number, 020-31102522.

Ross when you move house or want to store some stuff, you can rent from a cupboard up to the size of a container to store your stuff in, but most if not all also sell boxes to store your things in

must be a few self storage places even where you are :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Also used them for storing some collectable pottery that we had.

They will sell online too.

:xxgrinning--00xx3: you could stick 2 of these boxes together (one should fit inside the other to strengthen the box and make it taller :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Seems like you are finding a lot of problems just to satisfy a relative there, who knows nothing of how much it costs. Just use a well known carrier, or you might get caught out like those who used Philand Ynterlink.

Simple is normally best.

I used supermarket boxes to move apartment recently but they tend to be a bit flimsy. The IKEA ones are quite sturdy.

I was just looking at a photo of the LBC box sent to my wife's sister from her husband in Taiwan. The box looks pretty big. My wife says the carboard is quite thick, possibly an inch thick?

Forgive me for asking but what do you send in them? Low value items? Or a mix? My wifes sisters contained a heap of taiwanese toy cars for her nephew, amongst other things....:D

It's a mix..we've put an old amplifier and stereo system with speakers, some clothes, chocolates, kids' toys for my nephews, a fryer, some dog stuffs for my dog..hahahaha..all personal stuffs really..and it's indicated in the papers..:D

The good thing with LBC is that there is no real weight limit. As long as everything doesn't fall out the bottom, and they can load it in the van.. it goes. I sent out my huge tool box stuffed with heavy tools, power tools, it was stuffed full. £75 like Rayna said. I did reinforce the box with some 3mm plywood for the really heavy one, but it got there with no problems.

Mine were not on pallets though, that was just to keep them off our garage floor :xxgrinning--00xx3: it gets damp if it rains.
