"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very
disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more
important than that."

Who said that?

Good atmosphere in the local pub - not a patch though on Euro 2004 when, with a more enlightened Landlord there was a pub air horn and ritual burning of the Portugese and Croatian flags in the car park at half time.

Football is life, end of! I haven't been overly successful in getting my partner into football, partly due to the fact my team played .... nearly everytime she went, and every game we saw on TV was awful too! I think she may slightly realise how great it is after one game I took her too we actually played a blinder, and she started to get into it. Annoyingly, that was the last she saw of good games before she had to return home :(

Rugby on the other hand she got into big time! We were lucky aswell that the time I was out in the Philippines, they were hosting the Asian 5 nations division 1 championship, which they also won. We went to one of the games and watched on on tv out there. I succeeded in turning her family into Rugby fans!

Cricket next......... Not sure how I'm going to achieve that one :P

Football is life, end of!

Chinese football fan, 26, dies after going ELEVEN nights without sleep as he watched every single Euro 2012 match
- Time difference means matches are played in the middle of the night
- Jiang Xiaoshan would then go and do a full day's work the next day
- Sources said drinking and smoking weakened his immune system
- He was supporting England and France in the tournament

I was a little like that during the Japan/Korea WC in 2002. I felt slightly ill by the end of the group stages!

If he puts the ball in the back of the net, he can have what ever ridiculous haircut he wants

Talking of football, pre-season starts tomorrow! Another 9 months of money wasting, too much drink, and no remembering what the hell just happened! Happy days!

Up until the mid 90's I was mad about football and used to get upset if my teams lost. Since then, I realise that there are more important things in life and don't take it as seriously.

I'm not the best of company when my team lose. But, since I've been with Ruby things have changed a little. Now I only sulk for an hour or so rather than for a day or two lol. That's how I knew she was the woman for me!:icon_lol:
