Was about to get a form of provisional driving license, and thought its better to check first here in the forum.....found out that my philippine driving license can be use here in the u.k for a year,am i right? (is it from the date of my arrival or the date of my flr?)....it seems that it might save me for applying the provisional, but i will still be going for a LOTS of driving lesson thats my husband insist and thats what i thought the right thing to do as well, because i am a driver in the philippines especially a motorbike driver:yikes::NoNo: you now imagine how bad drivers in philippines and i must say i am ONE of them too!!!:D.....when i got here even crossing road was vdifficult for me....i just wish i didnt knew how to drive at all, less complications i suppose....my main concern is if our philippine driving license is still allowed to use for such lenght of time (1 yr.)? and what do u think is the right thing to do???thanks very much in advance..cheers

I believe most FULL International licences are ok for 1 year from date of entry into UK.

I would google for more info first though (DVLC site ?) if you're in any doubt.
Driving without a valid licence will also negate your insurance...a much more serious offence.

If you're not confident about driving here I would suggest you take some lessons first.

Motorists here are not expecting all the sort of erratic stuff you see in the Phils. :cwm24:

you can use your licence for 12 months then you will need to apply for provisional one before and take test before the 12 months is up

Yes you are allowed to drive here for one year. But after one year you need to get UK driver's license. The only problem using your Filipino one is that Car Insurance company will quoted you Skyhigh! I was quoted 1,800 pounds for car insurance I guess because of the brand of the car. :NoNo: So I have decided to get my UK license. Well, my insurance is quite low now compare to what they had quoted before and was worth it. The driving here is quite different I suggest you get some lessons first before you drive. Like what Graham said
