http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-18760180
Is it really worth it......surely the trial itselfwill cost more than that ???
If found guilty that would be an insult.......IMO!!
The guy earns multiple thousands of pounds a week.

The country is run by rich lawyers who are only too happy to suck up more of our taxes in the interests of maintaining their champagne lifestyle.
It's all to do with the principle...oh, and the money. :)

The CPS are fools for taking this as far as they have, a gross waste of taxpayers money. I wonder if it was the same West London CPS (who obviously like playing the race card) that dragged this lady to Crown Court :-
Jury took just 15 minutes to clear photographer of abusing pregnant woman in Tesco
A celebrity photographer has spoken of her “immense relief” after being cleared of racially abusing a pregnant Muslim woman in a supermarket.
Cinnamon Heathcote-Drury was accused of shoving the woman to the floor and calling her a terrorist during a row at a Tesco’s in Kensington last November.
She was also alleged to have branded the hijab-wearing woman’s family “suicide bombers” and said: “I’m a British citizen. I don’t know where you came from.”
The 41-year-old burst into tears as she was unanimously cleared by a jury at Isleworth crown court.
She said: “I am delighted the jury took just 15 minutes to clear me of these baseless and abhorrent charges. It has been extremely tough to have this hanging over me for the past eight months. Naturally I am immensely relieved it is finally over.”
Ms Heathcote-Drury, who has 11 works hanging in the National Portrait Gallery, including pictures of Mayor Boris Johnson and Newsnight presenter Jeremy Paxman, had always denied the charge and claimed she was the one who was attacked.

Indeed, we are now being held hostage on a mass scale in our own country and culture.
Just make sure you don't step out of line. :NoNo:
Well worth listening to the current Reith Lectures - Niall Ferguson on "The Rule of Law and its Enemies" - the enemy identified in Lecture 3 is "Lawyers".
Very much on the point.

Terry reportedly earns £150,000 per week.
That fine of £2,500 equates to 1.66% of his weekly income.
Compare that to someone who earns £250 p/w.
1.66% of £250 is £4.15.
So for someone who is on minimum wage, it's like getting fined at just over £4. :Erm:

The birch!
Zero tolerance. You know it makes sense.

I agree it's been blown out of all proportion. I've seen far worse on a football field that hasn't ended up in the courts. I remember Roy Keane deliberately trying to break someones leg in revenge for something in a previous match and that never went to court. The Ferdinands have deliberately made more of this than was necessary and I was delighted Rio wasn't picked for the Euros.

I'd go for the cat o' nine tails for Ferdinand - perjury
Asked why he was so angry with Mr Terry appealing for a penalty, Mr Ferdinand, describing himself as a "calm, collected player", said: "Because I am a winner."

I dont think Ferdinand would drag himself through the courts if it wasnt true.

That isnt the point....its a racism charge.
So were the laughable charges laid against Mrs Photographer in my post #3, and the Fireman Sam creator slurred as a racist and held at Gatwick over a remark made about a veiled up being passing unchallenged through security. Even the Labour party stopped c 2010 referring to anyone criticising immigration or multicultralism as a racist - I guess these CPS big brothers are still card carrying members in a time warp

I will leave you to read the lines in the attached link. If he said those words then he is guilty as charged. 2nd paragraph.

I don't think it would have gone to court if there was nothing concrete in it. The evidence must be there.
If you listen to the court case today, they were both as bad in what they were saying to each other. Some say it is part of the game to wind the other player up.
Also from what was said today, straight after the match Ferdinand was asked if he had been racially abused. He said no at first. I think pressure from other people.
Terry is not denying what he said.
There will always be racism, that is one thing you can be sure of.

To a certain degree, I agree with you. But, I have never been happy about racism in football or anywhwere else.

They should both be flogged in public for bringing the game into disrepute, behaving like immature spoilt brats AND breaking the law.
