Kids can't hear what the players say, but they do hear what the supporters say.

Actually I agree.

Some effort needs to be made to raise standards of behaviour in our society.

Sport and the media have a huge influence over the behaviour of impressionable youngsters.

I haven't noticed such standards rising in the past few years, though we are expected to 'move forward' in every other aspect of our lives. :angry:

I think they should concentrate on stamping out cheating such as diving instead of going down a cul-de-sac and getting the players to mind their p's and q's.

Back in the day before that drama pioneer Jurgen Klinsmann arrived on these shores the game in this country was played in an honest fashion.

I'd like to see players get a straight red for deliberately diving in the box. That should sort them out.

I agree with nearly all posts on this..swearing, unfortunately is all part and parcel of the game.

Its where many go to let off steam from a hard week at work...a good cursing at the ref is fair game, its what's expected.

I have been to a few games in the 70's where ive lost my voice for a day afterwards..brilliant!

Mr Carlisle is obviously not a football supporter.

One can hear what the players say, quite audibly. Depends a bit on where the player is and where you (or the kid) is. But yes, definitely can hear what is said.

When my son and daughter where younger, sometimes there would be a time when a primary school kid was heard uttering obscenities. This is normally followed by alarm and incredulity by parents and teachers alike. "Where do they get it from", is the first question asked. Well hearing it on the professional football pitch is one source....
