Hello there,

I am putting all the documents together to assist my wife's application for her UK settlement visa.

Probably doing a search on Google and reading about US visa applications has made me paranoid, but are NBI/Police clearances (my wife lived in Singapore for 8 years until February this year when we got married in the Philippines) ever needed as part of a UK spouse settlement visa application?

Also, I am compiling a list of e-mails between us, but they're printouts from my account rather than hers. As the application is coming from her, would this cause any problems?

Thank you and good luck to everyone!

Hello there!
I dont think you need all that ( NBI or Police clearance ) if you are applying for a settlement visa. One thing that concerns me though are the emails that you are going to provide. If she is the one actually applying for the visa the emails should be printed out from her accounts and you should provide some aswell as proof of your relationship and communication. Hope that helps. And may i suggest that you should read about UK visas not the US as thats definitely gonna make you paranoid as they are different. I fink? :)

May I kindly suggest you read this thread - All New Guide - How to apply for a Spouse/Partner Visa
(http://filipinaroses.com/showthread.php/39740-All-New-Guide-How-to-apply-for-a-Spouse-Partner-Visa)

Look particulary here at the "Suitability" requirements (http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigration/partners-families/citizens-settled/spouse-cp/can-you-apply/suitability/)

My ex-wife needed NBI clearance for her Spouse visa.

Heck, in the Phils, they even need that for serving in a shop.

Obviously the British government (quite rightly) also don't want criminals/wanted people entering the country if at all possible.

People from within the EU are a different matter of course.

Thank you all for your replies, and sorry for the late acknowledgement. My wife got her NBI clearance - took a matter of hours! - so we're including that just in case. On with the rest of the application.....

i don't know about other applicants but i include my NBI clearance just in case. it's better to submit of what you think will help your application anyway they accept everything you provide for them. :D :)
