In Short
There's no question about it, the Google Nexus 7 is a true game changer, and will no doubt close the gap between Android and IOS in the tablet marketplace. That doesn't mean it's perfect, however, as even for £159 upfront, we found a lot of small niggles with the Google branded tablet, such as its refusal to turn into landscape mode while on the main home screen and its lack of microSD storage. Overall though, it seems certain that the Google Nexus 7 tablet will give the Ipad a run for its money.
The Good
It's inexpensive, very speedy thanks to its Nvidia 1.3GHz Tegra 3 quad-core processor, has decent battery life, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is the most advanced version of Android yet.
The Bad
No rear-facing camera, lack of microSD slot.
The Ugly
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean doesn't support landscape mode on the main home screen.
Bartender's Score
8/10

Not sure I would call this a 'budget tablet', it is manufactured by ASUS - who have a much better reputation for quality than Foxconn.
The basic iPad costs Apple less than £100 to produce. Apple then slap on £300 profit and sell it to mugs with more money than sense.
The production cost of this tablet is probably not dissimilar, but Google have decided to treat its customers with a bit more respect and not screw every last penny out of them.

I still like Apple products, but the ipad is just too big to lug around.

"Nexus?"
Hmm ... :yeahthat:'s a dating site ... ISN'T it?
Anyway ... I digress! :icon_offtopic:
Without "making a meal of it", I should explain that the *tablets I'm most familiar with, are the sort you swallow and [hopefully] digest. *They're called 'Metformin' & 'Atorvastatin' ... and are used to control diabetes and high cholesterol levels, respectively.
It COULD be said, however, that remembering to take them regularly is a bit of a "pain in the neck" ... suss?

Tablet - the scrumptuous, mouth~watering :hubbahubba: confection concocted in slabs from sugar & condensed milk - I have long been partial to ... but, sadly, :bigcry: being diabetic, must now avoid this kind of tablet!
