Before our holiday we got a new memory card for our digital camera, all was working OK until about a week, then it said that the card needed formatting. :doh
I think that if I was to format the card then I may lose all the pictures?
I have looked online and seen a lot of software that says it can retrieve the pictures, I have downloaded some that either do not seem to work or require a purchase of a further software to complete the retrieval.
Can anyone recommend a free or cheap software I can use or is there somewhere, like Currys, that can help me out.
Thanks :xxgrinning--00xx3:

yes try the sd card in a reader or another camera, you should be able to retrieve some of the pictures if you've not written to the sd card.
a basic format will not actually over write the whole card.

Yes, I have tried the card into my PC and it still says the card need formatting. :yikes:
I am hesitant to try the formatting in case all the pictures are deleted.

you need to push up the tiny slide on left side of your memory card to unlock it, that's why it always said need to format your card. You didn't loose your pictures. Same thing if your going to bring it back to your camera, needs to lock it. Hope it helps you! :)
