Hi All,

Can anyone advise me on the best and safest way to travel from Manila to Baguio? Its a mountainous road I read, but well worth the trip?

Thanks in advance.

many years ago we flew there, but i think the airport was closed years ago, but i think there was talk of reopening it?, the weather was so bad we had to come back by road, a long journey :cwm24: and my misses told the driver not to stop for any reason specially in the mountain regions.. but i think its pretty safe

I drove to Baguio from my place last september. The roads are fine. The mountain road is stunning though, so well worth the time to go that way. There are several places to stop on the way to take photos. As it was raining when we went, there was a waterfall dropping over the road from an overhang, so I stopped the car under it for a laugh..... I got some photos somewhere:Erm:

My wife has travelled from Cavite via Manila to Baguio many times by road. She just describes it as a long journey, but no problems.

Chris if you don't know the place its good for you to ride in bus, victory liner located in cabrera pasay or cubao, the journey manila to baguio is 8 to 9 hours, maybe 480 pesos each for the transport:)

just take marcos highway and you will be alright. The road is busy 24/7 so you wont feel alone at the road. the people are friendly and taxi drivers are not rip off just like in manila. its my favorite destination in philippines. I am sure you will enjoy the trip as you go along the mountainous road :)

Yes, it is nice... so worth the trip. I would like to go further to see the famous rice terraces, but they are a few more hours drive north and we couldn't do it that time, maybe next time I can take our whole family there. But it is amazing to see the difference in plant life/trees. In some places you would think that you are in a european fir forrest.
You can see Charie was wearing a jumper and hat though, she found it cold, but we thought it was lovely, just like a summer's day back here.

Take my tip!! Book an online reservation here ..http://www.victoryliner.com/reservations/

I didnt, bought a ticket in Cubao and I had to wait 4 hours at the terminal.. :doh
Might also be worth paying more for a deluxe bus..
