Speaking of bad connections, who do people find provide the best and most reliable isp in Phils? We have Smart at home on a mast, but it's not always good.

I think that is probably cable in Manila .. right Rayna? out in the province where we are, even the pigeons carry maps, so it's not so good.

When I first went to live in the province (Camarines Sur), there was neither TV nor land-line phone service, plus no mobile phones then of course.
There wasn't even a road to the town...it just happened to be next to a railway line. :)

Steve, as long as you have a PLDT landline, they can offer you a DSL connection. My uncle & cousins have DSL connection in Laguna. Maybe you can Google the website of PLDT DSL and check if they have it in your place.

Smart bro and Globe tattoo = rubbish sometimes you cant even get online
PLDT DSL was ok but very slow download speeds 90-120 kbs
I was paying over 2000 pesos a month
Compared to the UK internet access in the Philippines is expensive and slow

What I did was to buy a USB repeater cable (15 mtrs) from CDR king.. I hooked the Smartbro dongle to the end of it..stuck it to a bamboo pole with a plastic cup covering it,found the best position outside, and surf from the house.. There`s a few of us here that have done this and found it a good solution.
