Where would I get the best rate to change around £500? Should I send it to a bank account out there instead? Which method? (I'm new to this, it was dirt cheap to send money from Dubai, doesn't seem so from the UK).
Has anyone used the online sites such as M&S, Postoffice etc. for changing pounds into pesos? I found this site with a better rate, anyone used it?

Thanks.

Thanks. Looks like I'll take pounds and change it there then. I also usually take money out from the ATM (I travel the world a lot on business so know the logic of this).
Don't worry, I won't be walking around anywhere with this much cash apart from leaving the airport.

:xxgrinning--00xx3: I've just opened an account with them, sent a small sum to test the system and then my usual monthly support transfer. Due to their reduced fees, no charge (directly) from BPI and a 2 peso better rate than my bank, my account gets a boost by P3000+ I'll never see it :icon_lol: but wife and son can have an extra monthly treat free from now on.:D

I think I'm right in saying you can only take in £65 (P10000) undeclared. Its ok to take the equivalent of $10,000USD but you need to declare it customs. Call me cynical but I wouldnt want to doing that :icon_lol:

Update on this one. The best rate I could get in the UK was below 60 squirrels to the pound. However out here in sleepy Batangas I can just got 65.11 including costs. So in future I'll definitely take UK money and change it out here.

You can take pounds and change it here. I think that's the best thing you should do but when you leave the country you are not allowed to take more than 10,000 Pesos unless you have a letter from BSP(Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas). That's what I know from costum at the airport.

Hi Imagine.
Looking at this site they just charge £5.99 for £500 transfer. Are there any other costs in your experience? Often you find extra charges from these kinds of places.
Also, we want to send to BDO bank, but they don't seem to need an ibahn code or anything? Is this normal?
Thanks.
