I think this is crossing the line and invading someone's personal space. Posting official email addresses etc for contacts at the Embassy fine, but posting their Facebook details seems immoral to me.

I have no intention to invade their personal space and im sure the applicant wont send them messages because it is clear to us the we are not allowed to contact them outside work and i trust the members here that they wont do silly things and send them messages on their facebook page. and besides they put there facebook for public views and its up to us how not to harass the account holder. im sorry.

they should keep their facebook account private because people who they refused the visa will be tempted to view their pages. seeing their photos is sort of a degrade to the level of respect the applicant have for them coz through their photos you get the idea that OH THEY ARE JUST PRETTY NORMAL PERSON and that should never happen because they have to have this superior image to project.

I won't have anything whatsoever to do with any of the so called "social media". But as an onlooker I'd have thought giving your occupation on it is a very stupid move particularly if your job is somewhat "sensitive". Although in saying that a couple of years ago details of Britain's incoming Secret Service Chief were exposed by his wifes Facebook pages :icon_lol:

Well they are pretty normal people, they are doing a fairly mundane administration task adhering to a set of guidelines. Although I am ether jealous of their pensions.

And the sort of job they are doing could invite threats, blackmail, bribery etc

If you go to my facebook page you will simply see a picture of my ugly mug and nothing else...unless I have accepted you as one of my 'friends'.
It is an option open to all fb users. :)

Sorry, but as you do not appear to be on my 'friends' list, I can neither confirm nor deny. :D

The unusual thing with facebook is that whilst you have ownership of your photos, Facebook has the rights to use them as they wish. Hence photos from peoples private facebook accounts often appear in the press.

Well, if ever I become that famous they're welcome to them. :D
Any of your 'friends' can download them and pass them around anyway.
Nothing to hide.....nothing to fear.
