I have a 61 yrs old partner from England and I'm 20 yrs old from Philippines. I'm unemployed and not studying, no business and property. I want to apply any visa that is applicable to me. I don't know whats good to me if its tourist or civil partnership. Our relationship is more than a year and we last time we been together was last week. We had 12 days vacation in Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. Now, I am looking forward to apply for visa but don't know yet if what is the best for me. Is it easier to apply visa through agency or just by myself? Hope you can help me guys. I need your help.

Thanks very much.

Cheers,
Mike:):):)

That's a big question.
The General Visit Visa (tourist visa) is a very cost effective visa application with minimal risks involved. It allows a stay in UK of up to 6 months.
All in all nothing much to lose by applying.
Now whether or not it would be granted depends largely on how the ECO see's the whole application.
In principle the ECO should not feel that on balance there is a bigger probability that the intention is immigration. (ie the applicant will not return home)
With the situation you describe, it's necessary that your B/F will need to sponsor the complete trip, yet not play too much on the romantic aspects.

With a visa that can lead to settlement there is very significant increase in costs and emotional risks.
Firstly, you both need to understand the financial requirements. Not just for initial entry to UK but also for every visa application stage of the 5 year immigration
journey to settlement (ILR)

If you both agree that all conditions can be met, then go for it.
Just also consider that recently it has been more problematic for the application of Fiance(e) / Proposed Civil Partner visa, simply due to the increased desire of the ECO's to have more and stronger evidence of the intention to get married or to have civil partnership within the 6 month visa validity.

Is the age gap a big problem here? would they refuse any visa just on the grounds of the gap being 41 years?

I think if your boyfriend will act as your sponsor to go and visit the uk then that would be good but that doesn't mean that you will be granted a visa. You need to deal this visa decision and planning with ur partner of course. You can apply for a visa by yourself, you can use agency but can be dear.
Still your choice.

No, age gap should not in itself be a reason for refusal.

Andy, why not try??
The cost is minimal at £78. Surely worth a punt. Nothing to lose IMO (well of course the cost of air tickets etc)

Thanks for your answer.

I know its not easy to apply for the tourist visa specially that i'm lack of documents but my B/F will sponsor for my trip and he will cover all the expenses. He has complete documents that I need to show to ECO but I'm worried for my documents. Will it help if I will work/study and have business this November and apply at the same time. What kind of visa you think that is easier to me? Do you know about registering civil partnership at the British Embassy Manila?

Would be a big help from your experienced. Thanks very much. Pls. help me:)

Thanks very much for your answer. Every time I read your post it made me feel that there's no problem with the visa but still have read many post about their unsuccessful application.

Whats the reason why your first time was refused. Is there any reason, or they just refused it to make money for first timer. :)

To be honest I was thinking of if she was refused would it affect our spouse visa application next year? And they might want her to leave my stepchild behind to make sure she has something to go back to which is against my beliefs.

We didnt submit and include bank statements and cover letter from my sponsor that hes going to shoulder my trip to England. Theres no harm on trying, can be tough but who knows you might get it granted!

All visa applications should be judged on their own merit, there are many members here, myself included, that have had a visit visa refused and then had a settlement visa approved. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

The key word there Rusty is SHOULD be judged. Anyway my wife is not coming without our daughter. I think that is stupid. It seems we are not treated as individuals when we are applying for a visa..Why would my wife overstay and put her spouse visa in jeopardy.? Thanks for your reply.
