Mrs Lastlid has just given birth to a baby girl. Weighing in at 4lb 12oz. Even though she was just 6 days premature she is still a titch, like her mum.

Mother and baby doing well.

So, that's almost a year to the day that my wife set foot in the British Isles.

Hospital staff here were great. Midwife(s) were excellent. We really got to see the NHS at work at its very best.

Thankyou everyone, for the well wishes.

BTW its amazing how I viewed the whole birthgiving process compared to witnessing the birth of my first child in 1982 when I was in my mid twenties.

BTW Good luck Malchard. We managed to beat you to it?

Mrs Lastlid is still in hospital here, with the baby. Should be out tomorrow. The care they are getting is great. The only thing that spoiled it was that the midwife that was delivering our newborn baby asked my wife if we both met in Thailand :icon_lol:

Even the food hasn't been too bad although not to Mrs Lastlids taste - not a lot of rice on the menu  I did ask them if we could bring our rice cooker in but they objected to that. Worth a try though.

So, for the first time in some 30 plus years I will be claiming benefit sometime over the next week or so - child benefit.:xxgrinning--00xx3: - should pay for the nappies and powdered milk.

That was the clothing that the hospital gave her to keep her warm. She was struggling to maintain her own body temperature for a few days...shes okay now though.
