View Full Version : Aberdeenshire businesses fined more than £28,000 for illegal workers

Four Aberdeenshire restaurants have been fined a total of £28,750 in civil penalties for employing illegal workers, details recently published by the UK Border Agency show.

My thoughts aswell. So thats £2800 per illegal their probably laughing as they saved that in wages probably paying illegals below minimum wage.:cwm23::cwm23:

I've banged an email off to the Home Secretary - here's a portion
As well as a punishment on disreputable businesses I would expect these fines to act as a deterrent to discourage other rogue companies from employing illegal immigrants. I’d be grateful to know how you feel about the fines levied totalling £28500 when as far as I am aware the maximum fine is £10000 per illegal so the total could have been £100000 – in my opinion this is not a deterrent.
I’d also like to know who was responsible in these cases for actually setting the level of the fine

:iagree:. £10,000 should be the minimum and that would be a real deterrent.
