Philippines’ AirAsia on Monday said it is launching the Clark-Taipei route starting Dec. 16, eyeing the 100,000 overseas Filipinos workers in Taiwan the growing number of Taiwanese visits to Philippine destinations.
Freddy Herrera, AirAsia Inc. Commercial head, noted the airline will service the new route four times a week – Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays – linking Clark International Airport in Pumping with Taoyuan International Airport.
Taiwan is the Philippines’ fifth largest source of tourists, said Herrera, noting over 155,000 Taiwanese visited the Philippines in the year to Oct. 31.
AirAsia Inc. is a joint venture of Filipino investors Antonio O. Cojuangco, Michael L. Romero and Marianne B. Hontiveros, and Malaysia’s AirAsia International Ltd., a wholly owned unit of AirAsia Berhad.
