Hello!
Not long been in the UK after my successful visa application! :)
Just wondering how all you fellow Filipinos keep in contact with your folks back home....
As I rushed out of the Philippines, we forgot to get a simcard before we left. Now, I'm wondering what is the cheapest way to call mobile phones from here in the UK?
Clavs :)

Skype! And Yahoo Messenger.
My wife chats to her mom for an hour or two at a time on Skype.

Thanks guys :)
Skype I think is around 12pence per minute to call mobiles. So I will have a look at vectone, Lyca and lebara :)
We cannot talk with Internet as my family all live in the province with no connection :(:Brick:

Skype to laptop or smartphone is free except for the used "bandwidth" of course. Skype, smartphone to smartphone is also similarly free especially if by free wifi connection.
But I see you cant use the internet.

Yes, so there is no free way to keep in touch that I know. Vectone is the cheapest for calls that has been mentioned so far. What about free texting to smart or sun numbers with no Internet connection ? Any ideas ?

My wife uses Chikka but I think that uses an internet connection, unfortunately.

I have been using local phone since I arrived here. You need to register online but once your phone number is already verified, you can use your mobile to call any mobile number in the Philippines. It charges 8.2p per minute if you call a smart subscriber in Philippines and 7.4p if calling a globe subscriber. You can also send text messages for 3.4p.
