View Full Version : My wife and son arrive tomorrow

All the planning, all the heartache, all the stress and finally tomorrow my beautiful wife and baby son will be with me again. They got their visas stamped in their passports yesterday and tomorrow they arrive at Pudong airport, Shanghai at 15.50 (07.50am UK time) where I will be waiting with the biggest smile ever on my face.

It has been the culmination of determination, luck and someone looking down at us that has led to this day. I specifically left the UK behind me to find a new life in Asia so I could be closer to my home and family in Phils. So far life here in China has been great, the place, the work and culture (plus the money) and now I have my apartment, a longer contract, I am settled and able to bring my family here to stay with me.

I have not kissed or held my wife for 6 months, I have not cuddled or played with my little son for 6 months, so tomorrow is going to be just so great for us. And what a brilliant birthday present too, on the 17th and 18th November respectively, it is my birthday my son Vincent's birthday (my wife missed the target date :anerikke:) So all set for a wonderful time.

First things we will do after we get back to the apartment tomorrow is go directly shopping (ok, maybe not the very first thing :do_it:). It is pretty cold here right now and set to get colder still very soon. Charie has never experienced cold yet, so I am looking forward to seeing her shiver  so off to buy some warm clothes for both her and Vincent. Then off to Carrefour and Ikea to stock up on some food and things for the apartment, ( I only have one cup and spoon and a kettle)

Anyway, I will take some photos and post as soon as I can, I just wanted to share my exciting news with you all.

Fantastic Steve :Jump:....really happy for you and your loved ones. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

I do totally understand how you feel and what you've been going through, as I did exactly the same thing when I was living and working in Hong Kong....only 5 months without seeing my wife and baby, but seemed like an eternity. :cwm3: (Also brought my 2 step-kids over to HK).

Don't forget the pictures of the happy re-union. :)

Thanks for all your kind wishes, it means a lot to me. Rayna, this time she applied for a 90 day visa, but it can be extended, like my visa here too. I am not sure if she wants to be home for Christmas as they dont celebrate that here, but the good thing is that the more trips she makes here, the easier it will be for us to get a UK visit visa. Then we can all come back for a holiday and of course for my work and our family in Asia, have reason to return. It's already thursday here now... counting the hours:Jump:

Steve ... thank you so much for sharing this GREAT news :Jump: ... THE BEST ever for you, Charie and Vincent.

 Knowing how hard you work - and how much the Festive Period means to Filipinos - perhaps your employers will favourably consider granting you some well-deserved time off over Christmas ... in order that you can spend this magical season with your loved ones in the Philippines.

Congratulations on your extended contract and, not least, on finding a suitable apartment (which, I'm sure, will soon be fully equipped according to your needs).

Meanwhile, savour every moment of this precious :BouncyHappy: reunion with your family. Plus, of course, the joyful Birthday celebrations. :xxparty-smiley-050: (your son's first!)

God Bless, my friend. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

What's the flying time for your family, Steve? About 2.5 / 3 hours - rough guess? If so then it is very do-able.
