hi all!! im eric thatcher! im here to have friends and advice from you mates! preparing my spouse visa application! my wife is from philippines, and my situation is i have a problem with the financial requirement, my gross income is only 16200, in a new rules a read that i have to show a cash savings but i dont have much that saving :(



my question is if i find a employer to my wife here and job contract is this counted to us to calculate my income and her income?


and if my wife can show the 16000 cash savings on her account/savings can still count on our income?

my wife is student before, but shes back last year, and work here before. we married this year july, i visited philippines to married her, but now im thinking and planning to apply our spouse visa.

The forum :Wave: your wife's proposed job offer will not be considered I'm afraid the financial requirement is strictly down to you as you're wife's finances is not taken into account if I'm not mistaken

I'm sure it doesn't you are the sponsor so it's you that had to show that you have the financial means to support her without the need for public funds so you will be the one to meet the new financial regulations :xxgrinning--00xx3:

very sad steve! her parents want to help us to be together, but you know i tried my best to meet the requirements, i am thinking how we trick the rules, although we have both joint account and i open single account to the Philippines.

if her parents put some money in my account in philippines, a 16000 pounds to cover all the financial requirements ( my account under my name, peso savings in philippines) so this one possible to meet my shortfall? thanks steve! im too frustrated!

Hi eric join the club. There are no easy ways round this. We are in the same boat.

seems to me the best way is to move your wifes savings into a UK account.

remember the first £16k will be ignored--so with the shortfall in your earnings you will need 2.5 times the difference in savings---added to the £16k--in your case around £23k all told---AND in place for 6 months before applying for the visa.

Hello Eric, my name is Kristel pleased to meet you! :Wave: I read about your concern regarding the visa application requirements, we have the same situation here i just submitted my application for spousal visa, my husband is earning less than the required income to sponsor somebody. We were worried at first because we did not meet the required salary what we did is we contact UKBA and ask all the questions we need to know, they said that the affected of this new rule are those people whose holding visa that issued after 9th of July 2012, if your visa is not in that date or earlier than that date then you are not affected. i have a friend whose in England they were married but they only applied for tourist visa for the wife it will expire in Dec 2012. so if they applied for the spousal visa they are covered with this new rule. we asked UKBA again regarding their situation, they said that as long as you have a £2000 savings in your bank account plus the £16k+ salary then you're qualified (its not really always £2000 savings, depends on the annual salary just to make it £18k+ as the required one), if you want contact the UKBA for further inquiry Good luck guys xx
