View Full Version : Sir Alex Ferguson aims early barbs at 'lucky' Rafael Benítez

"Sir Alex Ferguson has labelled Rafael Benítez as "very lucky" for being given the chance to win his second Fifa World Club title on the back of another manager's achievement. Benítez, who took over at Stamford Bridge after Robert Di Matteo's sacking, will take Chelsea to Japan in mid-December for the tournament. Their participation is based on them winning the Champions League title last May, under Di Matteo, and provides Benítez with a sense of deja vu given he won the title with Internazionale in 2010 after they had won the Champions League under José Mourinho seven months previously."

Very petty.
I think bacon face is still peeved that Benitez won the biggest trophy in Europe in just one season at Liverpool while he took well over a decade at Man U. :icon_lol:

Nothing wrong with winding up the spanish waiter though who may have won the cl quickly but totally failed to capitalize on his success afterwards and made some strange managerial decisions afterwards:icon_lol:

That's not a wind-up just Ferguson being ridiculous. He should concentrate on his own team especially after two defeats in a matter of days. :icon_lol:

Fergie is right in this respect, he also won the FA Cup and the Champions League with Houlliers team, and we all know it was due to Gerrard they won both finals. Benitez is the cause of today's troubles at Liverpool as he slowly and methodically brought Liverpool down.
Look how long he lasted at Inter :doh .... He's been out of work so long for a reason, the big teams know he's crap. Chelsea have got him as the owner know with him in charge Torres will play every game.

As for Benitez, I'm not his biggest fan but he did rejuvenate a piss poor Houllier squad to the CL title and took the club to another CL Final. On top of that he won the league in Spain with Valencia twice in three years plus the UEFA Cup. Even if he did fail at Inter, his C.V is still quite impressive.

Is Woy gonna fire him for being a gobby waste of space - the only useful thing he's done this year is switch on the Christmas lights in Altrincham

Yes and part of the reason we are by far the most successful premiership team of all time and only lost out on a title on goal difference :xxgrinning--00xx3:
